“Fans definitely deserve better than what we showed today,” said Mike Brown after losing 4 consecutive games on Sunday. It seemed like a hopeless statement from the Sacramento Kings boss, after his team suffered a blowout loss at the hands of the Indiana Pacers, turning a promising start into a sour run. During the post-game presser, Brown’s speech was filled with a lot of internal, self-introspection, and about the locker room atmosphere, and most importantly, though, he ended his statement with hope.

At the end of the first half, the scores were tied at 52. It looked like Sactown would end their streak and bounce back from the slump. We had a great, great walkthrough, and guys were feeling pretty good. We thought we were in a pretty good place.” But the Pacers had other ideas. They started the 3rd quarter with a 21-9 run, soon igniting fans’ wrath, as they began to “boo” their own team.

Addressing that, Coach Mike Brown said“We owe it to ourselves. When you look in the mirror, you wanna say that you left it all out on the floor and you try to play the right way, but giving up 70 points the way we did, it’s for sure it’s understandable why the fans, let us have it.” The Pacers ran down the Kings dry, by dropping an efficient 70 points in the second half itself and restricting the home team to just 95 points overall! It’s the third straight game for the Sacramento team, scoring under 100.

Following that, Mike Brown confessed that it was the lowest point of this season. However, at the same time, the HC believed that there was hope. He added, “If things aren’t going good, it’s gonna flip, so don’t get too low! Keep trying to be locked in on the next task at hand and go from there.” Looking closely into his words, one thing is clear, the Kings’ locker room is now in a somber mood.

Can Coach Mike Brown flip things around?

What’s the team’s biggest issue? DeMar DeRozan certainly hasn’t fitted well with the Kings’ roster mix. He had a disappointing night, scoring just two points with a 1-7 FG. Meanwhile, the rest of the team also didn’t have a great shooting display. They shot at 36.5% from the field while the Pacers put up a stellar 58.1% clip. The Indiana side truly outperformed Sactown.

At this point, a reporter asked Brown if he still had confidence in the team. To which he confidently answered, “We’ve been doing it for almost 2.5 years now… I’m gonna keep preaching it, try to make a little adjustment here, and then keep searching for, and it’s not gonna always be right, but I can’t sit back and just let stuff snowball and happen and say it’s gonna be OK because we all want more than this.”
