When Did Stephen Curry Last Play for Team USA? Has Warriors Guard Ever Played in the FIBA World Cup?

The name Stephen Curry is synonymous with making the unexpected happen on a basketball court. Thus, after a disappointing finish in the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup, the USA fans were expecting him to join the side for this edition. That did not turn out to be the case, as Team USA enters the tournament without the 35-year-old.

Just like many NBA superstars, the Golden State Warriors point guard prefers NBA over representing his country. So, for fans, a few doubts remain constant; as they don’t know whether Stephen Curry has ever participated in the FIBA World Cup or even played for Team USA.

The baby-faced assassin has played for Team USA on two occasions. Surprisingly, both were in the FIBA Basketball World Cup. He participated in the 2010 and 2014 editions of the FIBA World Cup, helping Team USA win consecutive gold medals.

First, in 2010, in Turkey, he recorded 4.6 points per game, 2.1 assists per game, and 1.4 rebounds per game. His numbers went up as he got more playing time in the following World Cup in Spain. With 10.7  points per game combined with 2.8 rebounds per game and 2.9 assists per game, he was a lethal weapon for Team USA.

The Splash Brother had previously wanted to play in the 2023 World Cup but opted out later on. Entering his 15th NBA season, Curry chose his health and recovery this off-season over representing Team USA.
