Stephen Curry is preparing to be part of his 11th All-Star game. But it’s for the first time in history that San Francisco will have the honor to host the enlightening weekend. The anticipation and excitement in the vibrant city are growing large. Since 2019, the Chase Center and San Francisco has been home to the Golden State Warriors. And now the bridges open the path for the most popular weekend during the NBA season.

“It’s cool to be hosting All-Star Weekend,” he said about the opportunity. Curry is serving as the ambassador for the city as it hosts its first weekend. His job is show to show the league the various hotspots in the city and even share his own experience from spending his career in the Bay.

But that’s the only way the Baby Face Assassin will be commemorating the Bay’s All-Star weekend. Because although the Warriors just moved from one bridge to another, to Curry, even Oakland is home. And his shoe will share the story of the city.

What shoes will Stephen Curry wear during the All-Star weekend

Similar to how the Chase Center pops during a Stephen Curry show, the Oracle was no different. It was home to the infamous Warriors dynasty that changed the landscape of basketball in the Bay. For the 36-year-old, it was also where he first cemented himself as the greatest shooter on the planet.

Likewise, during the All-Star weekend, Stephen Curry will don the ‘What the Bay’ Curry 12. In celebration of both San Francisco and Oakland, the newest Curry release is a mismatch sneaker. However, both shoes signify the unity that exists within the city. After all, to Curry, both places are home.

“It’s always cool to have a mismatched shoe that tells the full, holistic story of the Bay. There are a lot of cool Easter eggs in the kicks, and they’re loud, just like the Bay is. To celebrate [All-Star Weekend] and understand what the Bay means, obviously, there’s so much beauty in the Bay—nature, architecture, the culture that’s been built around that, so that’s what we try to bring with these shoes,” Curry told SLAM.

The left shoe follows a blue-and-red palette, denoting “fog on the San Francisco side”. The blue tongue features the 410 area code inscribed with a “Thank You” for the love and appreciation San Francisco shows to the Bay. The right shoe is a stark contrast. The right shoe is loud and lively. The orange tone is inspired by the sunsets that Oakland frequently experiences and that Stephen Curry saw almost every day for the good part of a decade.

The bottom of the shoe contains Curry’s signature. Several other details are swarmed all over the sneaker to add a touch of his stamp to the creation. However, although they appear different, the motive is to show how the two sides merge, “It kind of ties San Francisco and Oakland together,. [There are] stark differences even though they’re right next to each other, connected by the Bay Bridge, which we call out. The Golden Gate Bridge as well…,” Curry points out.
