“Sniper” Shake hails from the densely populated yet small city of Owasso, Oklahoma. He was born here on September 26, 1996, and Owasso is where he was raised. Milton is one of four children born to Myrion and Lisa Milton. His three siblings, Terryn, Myrion Jr., and Valanette Amie play basketball at varying levels. The Milton family are all American nationals. And Shake himself is very proud of his roots, especially his hometown. Don’t believe us? Just look at this tweet he sent out on a random March morning.

Shake’s father, the late Myrion Milton, used to be a hoopster for the Oklahoma Wesleyan Eagles and the Texas A&M Aggies. He was the first basketball coach and mentor for little Shake Milton as he was growing up. Sadly, he passed away in 2012 due to cardiac myopathy while Shake was still in school. But the values and work ethic instilled by him still live on within Shake as he makes a name for himself in the NBA.

Milton played in 30 games, starting in 23 of them. In these 30 games, he averaged 10.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.7 assists. He even earned AAC All-Rookie Team distinction for his efforts in his freshman year. His success as a college athlete would only multiply the next year.

Over the summer of 2016, Milton joined the US Select Team for their Goodwill Tour in Croatia. Moreover, he improved on his already stellar stats in his sophomore year for the Mustangs. Appearing in and starting 35 games, Milton averaged 13 points, 4.1 rebounds and 4.5 assists. He made the All-American Athletic Conference Second Team for the 2016-17 season. But don’t think that’s where his growth stopped.

In his final year with the Mustangs before being drafted into the NBA, Shake Milton leveled up once more. In the 2017-18 campaign, Milton registered 18 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game. However, his season was cut short when he broke his right hand. Milton only appeared in 22 games that season but that was still enough to earn him All-AAC Second Team honors.
