Raised alongside his sister Tara Rushing, by their parents Cynthia and Raymond Bridges, Miles emerged from a diverse background and exposure to sports. His dad, Raymond, was a 2x state champion at Flint Northern High School and introduced Miles to basketball when he was just two years old!

Miles attended Flint Southwestern Academy and his performances led him to an athletic scholarship offered by Oakland University. Then, he took a transfer to Huntington Prep School, where he was named McDonald’s All-American and played in the Jordan Brand Classic All-Star game. His high school performances made him a 5-star recruit, and ESPN placed him in the top 10 of his class.

Following his high school accolades, Miles Bridges got offers from Kentucky, Kansas, and Oregon, and committed to Michigan State in October 2015. He had an outstanding collegiate career from the moment he began playing for the Spartans. His early days saw him being named Big Ten Freshman of the Week 5 times and earning a spot as one of the 10 finalists for the Karl Malone Power Forward of the Year award. His freshman year included 11 preseason and 12 regular season accolades, such as being named a Sporting News Freshman All-American and making the USBWA All-District V Team!

By the end of his freshman year, Miles earned 14 end-of-the-year honors, including Big Ten Freshman of the Year and being named to the second-team All-Big Ten. With his explosive displays, it was speculated that Bridges could enter the NBA Draft after his first year.

Unfortunately, he couldn’t live up to the hype of his first year and his team faced a disappointing exit in the 2018 NCAA Tournament. Despite this though, a determined Bridges declared for the NBA Draft, ultimately forgoing his final two years of eligibility.
