Following the 2024 NBA Draft, reports emerged that Kentavious Caldwell-Pope would not be exercising the player option in his contract with the Denver Nuggets. Per the terms of his contract, Pope is guaranteed to receive the full $66 million from his contract, with his average annual payout standing at $22 million. His largest payday will be in 2024/25, with him boasting a salary of $22,757,000 by the end of this NBA season. His pay in the subsequent years will be marginally lower, though we doubt he’ll be too broken up about it. Moreover, the final year of his contract has a player option clause, so renewing with Orlando will be up to him.
With his deal expiring in 3 years, Caldwell-Pope will become an unrestricted free agent in the 2027/28 NBA season. But that is only if he decides to activate the player clause in his contract. The 2x NBA champion is getting paid quite handsomely by the Magic, there’s no doubting that.
But how much has Pope made over his career in the NBA?
How much has Caldwell-Pope earned in his career?
Starting his NBA career at the Detroit Pistons, Caldwell-Pope earned close to $12 million from his rookie scale contract in the 4 years he spent in Detroit. Following this, he moved to the Los Angeles Lakers in July 2013 on a 1-year, $17.75 million contract. He would re-sign with them two more times—another year in 2018 and then two in 2019. Those deals were worth $12 million and $16.58 million, respectively.
