The Grizzlies believed that they had offered a better deal in exchange for Finney-Smith. Which is why they’re reportedly angry at the Lakers being the ones to get him instead. The Nets would’ve received Luke Kennard, John Konchar, and a top-17 protected 2025 first-draft pick to part with Dorian. The Nets apparently liked what the Lakers had offered more, though!

Honestly, it does not take incredible insight to see that the Lakers simply offered a better deal. None of the players offered by the Grizzlies are of the caliber of D’Angelo Russell.
