Nowadays, NBA teams aren’t afraid to splash the cash and keep their biggest stars satisfied. The whole landscape around deals has changed, and lucrative contracts seem to be the norm now despite the new CBA guidelines. One player who has seen a massive financial windfall because of this is Phoenix Suns shooting guard Devin Booker.

Booker is one of the Suns’ most valuable players and has been for quite a while now. Naturally, his compensation reflects that. He had already signed a massive contract extension for $158 million in 2018. If you feel like that’s a lot, wait till you see what his latest contract is worth!

In July 2022, Devin Booker penned an extremely lucrative deal worth $220 million with the Phoenix Suns. Though far from the NBA’s highest earner, per Forbes, D-Book is now the 8th highest-paid player in the NBA, though they used both his on and off-court earnings as their metric. He sits between Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic (9th) and Miami Heat sensation Jimmy Butler (7th) on the said list. His teammate Kevin Durant also joins him in the top 10, sitting comfortably in the 3rd spot.

When it comes to just the salary drawn from their respective contracts, Devin Booker climbs up to 7th with the likes of Stephen Curry and his teammate Bradley Beal outdoing him. Notice how I left out the King? Well, that’s because LeBron actually earns less from his contract than Devin Booker! Despite this, James does hold the top spot on the Forbes list, owing to his various endorsements.

How long is Devin Booker’s contract with the Phoenix Suns?

Devin Booker first signed with the Suns on a 4-year rookie contract in 2015. Despite a slow start in his first season, the Suns youngster quickly picked up the pace in the latter seasons, hitting 20+ PPG in all but the first year of his rookie contract. After that ran its course, he quickly signed a $158 million extension in 2018 that kept him at the Suns for another 5 years.

Do not think for one second that a massive contract like this meant Devin got complacent. Quite the opposite actually, since his numbers went up! Since signing the 2018 extension, Booker has not registered a season where his average PPG slipped below 25.

By the end of this contract in 2023, the hoopster had earned over $166 million. And his latest deals trumps even that figure. For context, Booker is set to earn $49.2 million in just the first year of this newest contract.

With an average yearly salary of $55 million, Booker’s new deal will see him (more than) double the earnings from his previous deals. By the time his deal runs out in the 2027/28 season, the Suns’ shooting guard will have made a gargantuan $387 million. His total earnings from NBA salaries alone, currently stand at $215 million, as of 2025.
