New Orleans Pelicans fell into deep trouble amid the clutch situation. After trailing behind the Los Angeles Lakers in double digits for the majority of the game, the Pels finally leveled the score at the late end of the 4th quarter. While it looked like the home side would get the ticket to the playoff, they suffered a massive blow in the form of Zion Williamson. It was the 3rd-minute mark in the last quarter and he rushed to the locker room when the scores were tied at 95. The reason behind the exit is unknown.

Notably, the star seemed pissed as he threw his towel down in disappointment before exiting the floor. Unfortunately, the moment cost them the game, as they suffered a close 110-106 loss. They will have another chance as they play against the winner of the 9th vs 10th seed clash for the last spot in the playoff. Further, Andrew Lopez of ESPN revealed that Zion Williamson suffered a left leg soreness, as per Pelicans coach Willie Green. He also added that the youngster would get his imaging done tomorrow before taking the court for the second qualifier.

The star turned up the heat tonight, dropping 40 points with 11 rebounds, making up for the ‘no show’ in the last game. The Pelicans trailed behind the Lakers in double digits and it seemed like the LA side could get away easily. But Zion had other plans.

The game could have turned its head if Williamson continued to play the remaining minutes. LeBron James instead put his experience to use and helped his team cross the line. Nevertheless, the youngster has another opportunity to make his playoff statement.

Will Zion Williamson return to the next game?

The leg injury’s severity is still not clear and the MRI scan would decide the star’s participation in the do-or-die game. The leg soreness usually takes 2-5 days to recover for the players to get back on the floor, as per NHS Inform. However, the star has his next must-win game the day after tomorrow. The Pelicans will face the Sacramento Kings on Thursday as they walked over the Golden State Warriors with ease.

Despite, the play-in update they have a better record against both sides in the regular season. Notably, a few days ago, they beat the Warriors in a dominating fashion, sinking 20 three-pointers. On the other hand, they also defeated the Kings with a 5-0 record this season. Speaking of a competitive advantage, the Pelicans surely have one!

On top of it, they also have a home-court advantage. However, someone worth watching out for is Keegan Murray after his 32-point performance tonight. The Kings had a neat day on the court with every starter entering double scoring figures.

Well, as of now, the only thing the Pelicans need to focus on is getting Zion Williamson healthy.
