The Golden State Warriors are going head-to-head against the Dallas Mavericks tonight. Stephen Curry and Co. are on a 6-game winning streak and looking to continue their run with another road win. However, a devastating blow in tonight’s heated first half could cost them the game and their winning streak. Their star rookie, Trayce Jackson-Davis, took a nasty blow to the face in the closing seconds of the first half, raising major injury concerns.

With less than 1 minute remaining in the second quarter, Mavs Forward PJ Washington drove to the basket for a layup attempt. He was swarmed by three Warriors defenders, including Trayce Jackson-Davis. As Steph stole the ball from Washington, his elbow hit Jackson in the face, causing the rookie to fall on the floor. The play continued, leading to a three-pointer by Klay Thompson on the other end. However, Jackson felt the effects of the blow after the end of the first half and headed to the locker room, followed by his trainer.

Jackson showed great competitive spirit despite taking a hard elbow to the face. He continued to play till the end of the quarter and even scored the final basket of the first half. Jackson scored an easy layup courtesy of an alley-oop pass by Chris Paul. The Warriors took a 2-point lead with the rookie’s basket. Jackson’s walk to the locker room raised concerns for the Warriors as they feared a major injury. He played 11 minutes in the first half, scoring 8 points and 8 rebounds.

The Warriors fall despite Trayce Jackson-Davis return

Fortunately, Trayce Jackson-Davis was not seriously injured on the play and returned to the court in the second half. However, the rookie was unable to continue his form and remained scoreless for the rest of the game. He finished the game with 8 points, 8 rebounds, and 1 assist. The Warriors also blew their 2-point lead and lost to the Mavs 108-106. Tonight’s loss marked the end of their 6-game winning streak. It is ironic because they snapped the Mavs’ 11-game winning streak in their previous encounter.

It was a tough loss for Stephen Curry and Co. as they were playing against a shorthanded Mavs team and expected to win. Dallas was playing without Luka Doncic, who missed tonight’s game due to right knee soreness. Kyrie Irving and PJ Washington balled out in Luka’s absence. Kyrie finished the game with 26 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists. And PJ Washington scored a game-high 32 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists.

Meanwhile, no other Warriors player apart from Stephen Curry could surpass the 20-point mark. Following tonight’s loss, the Warriors’ record worsened to 42-35. With only 5 games remaining in the regular season, they hope to get back to winning form and book their spot in the play-in tournament.
