Tragedy strikes the Pistons! The Detroit franchise has surprised everyone this season, as they sit comfortably in the sixth spot of the East standings. And they headed into tonight’s Magic clash, hoping to continue the momentum from their back-to-back wins in the previous two games. However, things took an unfortunate turn when Tobias Harris was forced to leave the game due to a scary injury.
It was early in the third quarter when Harris subbed out. While everyone expected him to check back in soon, it was later revealed that he was done for the night! The reason? A head injury. Although it is unclear when he picked up the injury, a blow to the head is always concerning.
With that call, Harris’ night ended early, and he finished with only 2 points and seven rebounds in 17 minutes. Obviously, this is a massive setback for the Detroit side because the forward has been a key part of their success, averaging 13.1 points and over 6 boards.

Well, the Pistons had their worst season in franchise history last year. That also included an embarrassing 28-game losing streak, the NBA’s longest ever (tied with the 76ers). That’s when they decided to bring in Tobias. Yes, the free agent inked a two-year $52 million deal and moved to Motor City. And he has become a permanent starter on the team playing under new head coach J. B. Bickerstaff.
Moreover, Tobias even addressed the reason behind the Pistons’ success in a recent interview, “I think it’s just our energy and our focus level toward the road games. I feel like we always feel like we’re the team that we gotta prove ourselves to the outside world and honestly ourselves and how good we want to be.” Of course, they are playing with a chip on their shoulder following last year’s humongous failure. And honestly, it’s working well in their favor so far. But tonight’s setback could halt their momentum.

Sure enough, the Magic star fell to the floor because of the hit and the officials blew the whistle. Then, Tobias got into a verbal altercation with Jalen and had to be separated by teammates and staff members. That’s just the kind of intensity the forward brings to the table. Of course, his veteran leadership has helped the Detroit side win games. And they would be praying that Harris’ injury is not serious and he returns to action soon.
