Is Curry's health the only thing standing between the Warriors and another championship run?

Stephen Curry scares the Dub Nations with an injury worry in the third preseason game. The Golden State Warriors are heading into a season without Klay Thompson to have a last roll of dice to save the dynasty. With only days left for the regular season to commence, the superstar headed into the locker room after the first half with a finger injury. Not to forget that the superstar dealt with a similar injury during his Olympics gold quest.

The Dubs have had a clean run in the preseason, winning their first two games in dominant fashion. Importantly, fans witnessed Steph continuing from where he left, swishing buckets from the arc. Obviously, the superstar didn’t play longer minutes but made sure he warmed up the court for the Dubs’ depth to take care of the rest of the night.

Similarly tonight, Stephen Curry clocked out after 16-odd minutes, scoring 6 points with 4 assists in the first half. While everyone thought it was the superstar’s preseason routine to check out after the first half, Anthony Slater, a renowned Warriors reporter, reported that Curry jammed his finger in the first half and didn’t return for the second half. Fortunately, it wasn’t anything serious as Slater wrote, “but it doesn’t sound like an issue. He’s back in the weight room currently going through his normal postgame workout routine, per Warriors.” via his X handle.

Notably, Steph had a right-hand injury during one of the scrimmages with Team USA at the training camp. Speaking of it, the superstar then said, “I had a little blood.” Nevertheless, it didn’t put him out of the mix, as we all know what he did in the Paris Olympic knockouts. On the other hand, it’s certain that both these injuries are not related. The good news is that Slater’s latest report stated that X-ray results came out negative and the team pushed him into Day-to-Day.

The Warriors without Klay Thompson have shown promise, sweeping 3-0 in the preseason run. Most importantly, none of these games required Stephen Curry’s services. In the first outing, it was Lindy Waters III, who saved the team with a game-winning three-pointer against the LA Clippers. Heading into the second outing against the Sacramento Kings, it was an all-around Warriors showcase, sinking 28 three-pointers, and an introduction to Buddy Hield and De’Anthony Melton.

In tonight’s game, again with the Kings, it was all about the Warriors’ future. Moses Moody received a call-up to start the game ahead of his batch mate Jonathan Kuminga. The 22-year-old grabbed the opportunity with both hands with a game-high 23 points with a 53.8% FG. Unlike the second game, the Kings came in heavily prepared for the clash, as they consistently kept the lead throughout the game.

Nevertheless, the game went into a tight thriller. The Warriors managed to take a three-point lead with 14 seconds left on the clock. Thanks to Pat Spencer and Reece Beekman for making the crucial buckets at the final minute. And, it was up to the defenders to restrict the Kings from making the three-pointers and win the game comfortably. Do you think they will be able to maintain their winning streak?
