The Los Angeles Lakers and the New York Knicks are battling it out on the court as we speak. And given the intensity of this rivalry, fans of neither team will want to concede an inch to the other. But Knicks fans, you may want to sit down before reading on. Something worrying happened to forward OG Anunoby during the game.
Early in the 3rd quarter, Anunoby received the ball, lining up a shot as LeBron James rushed over to guard him. However, even before the King got close enough, Anunoby went down, clutching his ankle. He was helped up by James as the play was halted.
Anunoby then made his way to the locker room with a slight limp in his step. He has not missed a single game for the Knicks this season. But even with his injury record, non-contact injuries like this are always anxiety-inducing for players. We told you that you’d better sit down for this one.

A tweet sent out by the Knicks PR revealed that OG Anunoby suffered a sprain to his right foot. They confirmed that he will be out for the rest of tonight’s game. While not as severe as fans imagined initially, this injury is still a significant blow to the Knicks. Especially when they’re playing the likes of LeBron James.
The last time the Knicks forward was injured was back in August during the offseason. He suffered a blow to his hamstring but recovered in time to start the regular season with the Knicks. And as we mentioned prior, he was on a streak of not missing a single game for the Knicks. Well, that’s over now.
It is very likely that after this injury, Anunoby will also miss the Knicks’ upcoming game against the Houston Rockets. Sitting third in the Eastern Conference, the Knicks will need Anunoby’s services if they are to do well in the post-season. Thankfully, with the All-Star break around the corner, the Knicks have some breathing room when it comes to OG’s recovery.
