Tragedy strikes the Wizards! Well, they are having an abysmal season and sit at the bottom of league standings with only four wins. And if that wasn’t enough embarrassment, they suffered another major setback during tonight’s Thunder encounter as their star forward Marvin Bagley sustained a brutal injury, courtesy of a crucial mistake by his own teammate Corey Kispert.
The incident occurred midway through the fourth quarter. As Isaiah Hartenstein ran a pick and roll action and sprinted inside the paint for a potential lob, Kispert pushed the big man before he could take position. Unfortunately, the OKC star fell straight to the floor and right on Bagley’s leg, bending it in gruesome fashion. With Bagley’s leg getting crushed under Hartenstein’s 255lbs frame, the Wizards forward instantly began screaming in agony, favoring his right knee.

Sure enough, his teammates and staff rushed to check on him immediately. They helped Bagley off the floor and he limped off to the locker room. As expected, he did not return to finish the game and his night ended early with only 7 points and six rebounds. Yes, Kispert did not intend to hurt his own teammate. But his bizarre blunder could rule Bagley out for a significant period as we await update on his injury.

Because of the way Marvin was screaming in agony and how awkwardly his knee bent, there is fear that it might be an ACL injury. Obviously, it will only add to his struggles while he is having his career’s worst season. He is averaging a career-low 4.8 points and getting less than nine minutes of playing time each game. Moreover, it would add to the Wizards’ injury woes.
Marvin Bagley’s injury raises concerns as the Wizards await Kyle Kuzma’s return
Well, the Wizards have been completely out of luck this season. And Bagley’s injury only solidifies that theory. That’s because they are already dealing with multiple stars being out due to injury concerns. Even young star Carlton Carrington left midway through tonight’s game with an apparent side injury. Apart from him, Bilal Coulibaly (groin) and Saddiq Bey (knee) are out with their respective issues.

And their 2 overall pick Alex Sarr, who is expected to be the future of the franchise, was also absent from tonight’s game due to a back issue. However, the biggest star missing for them is Kyle Kuzma, who missed his tenth straight game due to a rib injury he suffered last month. Yes, he has begun ramping up his workload during practice. But there is still no set timetable on his return. Obviously, Kuzma’s absence is a major blow because he is one of their best players, averaging 15.8 points.
And if Bagley also misses time due to tonight’s injury, the Wizards will have no shot left at turning their season around. Do you agree?
