Is Malcolm Brogdon all right? That question lingered in the minds of attendees at the Capital One Arena long after the matchup between the Washington Wizards and the Indiana Pacers had ended. The Wizards player had his fair share of troubles with his foot, which made him a common name on the Injury Report for a brief period. While it looked like he was finally rid of it, Brogdon may soon be entering the injury report again—for an extended period, after the recent incident.
According to reports, Brogdon got hurt while on a drive to the hoop. The incident occurred in the 4th quarter when Brogdon got hurt when fouled by Pascal Siakam on the drive. He sat on the floor and motioned for team trainers. The player had to be helped up to the Wizards’ locker room. He could not put any weight on his left leg—the injury took care of that.
That said, it didn’t take long for the update to come out that Brogdon was ruled out for the matchup’s remaining minutes. The player exited the game after playing for 15 minutes. During that period, he recorded 12 points, 0 rebounds, and 7 assists. According to RotoWire, the coaching staff may have excluded the player during the last quarter given the upcoming All-Star break.

With the Washington Wizards set to have their next game 9 days from now, the gap gives enough time for Brogdon to recover without missing a game in between. Unfortunately, without any updates on the severity of the injury, it is tough to assume for how long the player will be ‘OUT’. Therefore, the Wizards will have to form a backup plan, just in case.

How can the Washington Wizards proceed without Malcolm Brogdon?
AJ Johnson and Corey Kispert’s on-court minutes could increase if Malcolm Brogdon is sidelined for long, per RotoWire. Brogdon held a position on the depth chart as the backup point guard. Therefore, Johnson and Kispert have a major responsibility to undertake.
AJ was traded to the Washington Wizards only about a week ago. As a result, he has only played 3 games with the team. With 8.7 minutes of average playtime, the player scored at least 2.3 points, 0.7 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game. His shooting skills could be better since Johnson only averaged 1.0-2.7 (37.5%) field goals, 0.3-1.7 (20.0%) three-pointers, and 0.0-0.0 (0%) free throws with the team.

Corey Kispert, for his part, has played for the Wizards in 49 games this season. In the process, the 25-year-old averaged 11.8 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.6 assists within an average playtime of 26.8 minutes.
With a win record of 9-45, Washington has a low chance of making the playoffs. However, they can still try to add on to their win numbers. Whether the duo of AJ Johnson and Corey Kispert can assist in that remains to be seen.
