Josh Giddey rushed to the locker room after a game-high performance! Tonight, the Chicago Bulls were on a roll, coming into the game with a 2-game winning streak for the first time in two months. Guess who anchored it? It was Giddey. The Aussie baller was in prime touch and stepped onto the floor fresh off a triple-double. Importantly, he continued from where he left off and dominated the Indiana Pacers, too. Unfortunately, things took a u-turn!

Around the 7th-minute mark in the fourth quarter, the Bulls were comfortably ahead with a 17-point lead. Giddey brought the ball into play against Ben Sheppard’s tightly knit defense. After dancing for a bit on the perimeter, the guard hustled to the paint for a mid-air floater. It was a shot attempt to tie his career-high (31).

Unfortunately, the shot didn’t go in, and he also landed awkwardly on his right foot. You know that doesn’t sound right. He landed awkwardly, and you know what happened next!

Josh Giddey immediately held on to his right ankle, screaming in pain, and headed straight to the locker room, limping all the way. While he was expected to return later in the game, the team sidelined him. Luckily, Coby White was on the floor to finish the game in Chicago’s favor. There isn’t any clarity on the severity of the injury. But the Bulls would hope for a quick recovery, considering their race to the playoffs.

Currently lingering in the play-in spot, the team would look to make the most of their remaining 17 games. While they have enough gap with the 11th seed, the Bulls would look to clinch the 7th seed to have an advantage in the Play-in tournament. Will Josh Giddey recover in time for the Thursday night game against the Brooklyn Nets? Notably, the NY side is fresh off their win over the Lakers.

Coby White provided an update on Josh Giddey’s injury

This wasn’t the first time Giddey suffered an ankle injury. Last year, the 22-year-old suffered a ruptured ATFL during the Paris Olympics and went into recovery mode for the 2024-25 season. A few months later, in a game against the Toronto Raptors, he sprained his ankle during a three-point attempt and exited the floor.

It was the same ankle!

What’s your perspective on:

Can Josh Giddey bounce back stronger after this setback, or will this injury haunt his season?

Have an interesting take?

Earlier this month, Giddey suffered a quadriceps contusion and missed a game against the Cavs. In short, the Australian guard has been living dangerously on the floor. However, Giddey’s backcourt buddy, Coby White, dropped a promising update after tonight’s comfortable 121-103 win over the Pacers.

“We asked him after the game, he said he was cool…He’s a tough guy. He’s got that Australian toughness in him. He’ll be all right,” said White as per The Athletic writer Darnell Mayberry. Most importantly, White didn’t reveal any timeline of the baller’s return to the floor.

Importantly, Will Gottlieb, a seasoned NBA writer, reported that the guard had injured the same ankle that got him out of the Paris Olympics. Moreover, a report revealed Giddey walked off the arena with a walking boot. At this point, after the exit of Zach LaVine, the last thing that a Bulls fan would want is a season-ending injury.
