Is Jaden Ivey all right? That question would have been swirling across the minds of attendees at the Little Caesars Arena as the Detroit Pistons-Orlando Magic matchup continued to be underway. Throughout his first two seasons, he had been one of the most consistent players for the Detroit Pistons, appearing in 74 and 77 games, respectively. At the same time, however, he has also dealt with 7 different injury instances, three injuries occurring on his knees. While his most recent ailment seemed to be behind him initially, a new one may now raise concerns about his availability.

Earlier today, reporters stated that the Detroit Pistons stretchered off point guard Jaden Ivey during the Pistons-Magic game. The same occurred after the player suffered an apparent left leg injury, with ten minutes remaining in the 4 quarter.

As the Pistons led 84-79 during the final minutes, Magic’s Cole Anthony attempted to make a play on the ball. In the attempt, he landed on Ivey’s leg, an action that caused the latter to develop visible pain. Soon, members of both teams surrounded Ivey. Cole Anthony even seemed visibly emotional as everyone looked stunned at Ivey’s ailment.

Jaden Ivey exited the game after being on the court for 27 minutes. During that period, he led the scoring effort for the Pistons, with his 22 points, 1 rebound, and 4 assists. Fortunately, his contribution was not for nothing. The rest of his teammates could carry the game after his exit.

In the end, the Pistons secured the win by a 105-96 score. For a team occupied at the bottom-most portion on the points chart for the last 5 seasons, having won 5 of their 7 recent games now is a sign that things may be improving for the Detroit Pistons squad.

Cole Anthony wasn’t the only one who was emotional about what had occurred on the court. The cameras could also capture Ausar Thompson taking a moment and even wiping his eyes with his towel. Even Orlando Magic head coach Jamahl Mosley expressed sadness as he addressed the injury during the post-game presser. Highlighting that it is something that he does not want anyone to experience, he stated, “Pray for the young man. It was heartbreaking to see that happen.”

These signs indicate one can expect some long-term absence to be undertaken by Ivey during his recovery process. In light of this, the Pistons squad will have to figure out some things.

What changes can the Detroit Pistons make to the starting lineup in light of Jaden Ivey’s absence?

Jaden Ivey is someone whose contributions to the Pistons squad cannot be underestimated. After all, over 29 games, he has averaged 17.4 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 4 assists. As a result, he became the team’s second-highest-scoring leader this season. Therefore, whoever replaces him, for the long term, will have to be as efficient on the offensive part.

As highlighted by the ‘Detroit Bad Boys’, the franchise can look toward Malik Beasley to cover for the absent player. Along with a 16.7-point average scoring, Beasley also possesses a 43.4% field goal percentage, 41.8% three-point percentage, and a 70.8% free-throw percentage. Unfortunately, reports also indicate that placing too much offensive emphasis on Beasley would weaken the defense on the backcourt. Therefore, Ron Holland and Ausar Thompson may also see an increase in their responsibilities, in due course.
