Misfortune strikes the Pistons once again! Well, they have lost four of their last five games. And they were hoping to turn things around tonight as they faced the Miami Heat. But just when they gained a brief advantage against their opponents, their big man, Isaiah Stewart, was forced to leave the game because of an unfortunate injury.

The incident occurred in the opening minutes of the second quarter. With his team trailing by nine points, Terry Rozier drove to the basket for a layup attempt. Stewart rose to contest the shot under the rim. Although he was able to stop the Heat star from scoring, Isaiah landed awkwardly on his left leg and seemingly hyperextended his knee. Sure enough, he fell straight to the floor in visible pain.

While the play continued on the other end, Stewart was slow to get back on his feet. And he immediately limped off to the locker room.

Just like many fans feared, it was later reported by Ira Winderman, that the Center would NOT return for the remainder of the game because of a hyperextended left knee. And his night ended early, with only 4 points and 3 rebounds… Well, the severity of Stewart’s injury is still unknown and he could miss some games going forward.

Obviously, that would be a massive blow for the Detroit side because he has been a solid force for them, averaging 6.1 points and over six rebounds. Yes, this is his career-low in scoring. But Stewart has been a menace on defense with 1.3 blocks per game. Moreover, the hoopster has been the talk of the town all season because of his antics. What antics, you may ask.

Isaiah Stewart’s controversial altercation with Giannis Antetokounmpo and Dalen Terry

Can the Pistons overcome their slump without Isaiah Stewart, or is this the beginning of the end?

Apart from being a talented big man, Stewart is also a controversial player. It was just last month when he intentionally fouled Giannis by yanking his jersey while he was airborne. This could’ve led to a serious injury for The Greek Freak. Sure enough, Giannis was not pleased with the Pistons star’s vicious foul and said, “I have two older brothers that pushed me on the floor, were tough on me. It doesn’t really faze me anymore. All I could think about was, ‘Get up and make two free throws.’ At the same time, it’s a dangerous play. It’s not a basketball play.”

Of course, Isaiah Stewart was ejected for that play after being penalized with a flagrant two foul. But the ejection did not put an end to his antics, because just days later, the hoopster got into another physical altercation. This time with Dalen Terry.

Well, they got into a shoving match after tussling inside the paint for possession. Sure enough, Stewart got penalized with a tech once again. Although Stewart might not be the most likable guy, he does bring that competitiveness and emotion to the floor every night. And that often keeps his team energized and motivated. Surely, they would hope that Isaiah’s injury is not serious and he returns soon.
