Can the Suns maintain their winning streak without Devin Booker against the Pistons tonight?

After two big wins on the road, the Suns are ready to play their first home game of the ongoing preseason. Their opponents? The Detroit Pistons, who they comfortably beat earlier this week. While the fans are expecting another easy win for Kevin Durant and Co. tonight, the job might be more difficult to pull off than it sounds. Especially because the Suns have suffered a major blow ahead of the game, as the latest injury report reveals Devin Booker will not be available for the encounter.

As per the report, Book has been ruled out of the game due to right ankle soreness and is being viewed as a precaution. Sure enough, that will require a major change in the team’s lineup as DB had been in the starting five for the first two games. As it turns out, rookie Ryan Dunn is being bumped in the rotation to replace Booker in the starting role.

During his first two appearances, Booker scored a combined 22 points, 12 against the Lakers and 10 against the Pistons. And even if his injury is not too severe, it might be a wise decision from Mike Budenholzer and his crew to give the superstar a rest and not risk further injury. Meanwhile, Dunn has shown that he can take care of business when needed. In his preseason debut, the rookie scored nine points. And a couple of days later, he had his first double-digit performance with ten points.

Maybe that’s why he has been chosen as Booker’s replacement for tonight’s game. Moreover, Dunn even impressed Kevin Durant with his performance in the first two games as ‘The Slim Reaper’ revealed his high expectations for the rookie. He said, “Yeah, we’re gonna need them to develop fast. We’re gonna need them to come out here and provide some good spark for us off the bench.” And with Booker’s absence adding to the Suns’ injury woes, Dunn could prove his worth by having another great game and helping his team win.

Two more Suns stars are out for the Pistons rematch

Apart from Booker, two other Suns stars will not suit up for tonight’s game. Sure enough, the first player is Jusuf Nurkic, who is yet to make an appearance this preseason. Unfortunately, he is dealing with a left middle finger injury and is being viewed as day-to-day. With him out of the lineup, Budenholzer has bumped Mason Plumlee to the starting Center role and will do the same tonight.

Meanwhile, the Suns will also miss Grayson Allen, who is out with an Achilles soreness. And there are even reports about him expecting a child, which is why he was not available in the last game as well. Sure enough, that puts more pressure on players like Ryan Dunn because Grayson is arguably the best spot-up deep-range shooter on the team right now as he led the league in three-point percentage last season. And Dunn and other stars will need to make up for his absence.

Following the new updates, their starting lineup for tonight’s game looks like this: Tyus Jones, Bradley Beal, Ryan Dunn, Kevin Durant, Mason Plumlee. Do you think they can continue their winning streak?
