Scary times in Brooklyn! They have won only thirteen games so far this season and currently sit among the bottom four teams in the East. Moreover, it does not look like their situation will get better anytime soon. Because of the injury bug. Yes, as they prepared to face the Sixers tonight, Cam Johnson and Cam Thomas got ruled out because of a recent injury. And just when they thought things could not get worse, D’Angelo Russell was forced to leave the game with an injury of his own.

Well, D’Lo was the starting point guard for them once again and even played for a major chunk of the first half. But he was subbed out once the second half began. Turns out, he did not return for the remainder of the game. The reason? A right shin contusion.

Unfortunately, Russell’s second stint in Brooklyn has not kicked off the ideal way. Yes, he had a solid debut against the Raptors, where he scored 22 points and 8 assists. But the night ended in a loss. And the following night against the Bucks, D’Lo suffered a late-game cramp and had to be carried off the floor. Even tonight, he only finished with 5 points and 4 assists in 14 minutes, because of the unfortunate injury.

Hopefully, the injury is not serious because his absence would be a massive blow, as D’Lo instantly became a key part of the rotation. He’s averaging 12.6 points and 5 assists this season. And he is happy to be wearing the Nets uniform again. “It’s a good feeling, honestly, to go back somewhere you’re comfortable. Somewhere, you kind of know the ins and outs a little bit. See some familiar faces. Kind of makes the process a little easier to adjust to. I’m just grateful for that.” But his injury only adds to the concerns.

Obviously, fans are deeply praying for Russell’s speedy recovery. That’s because the Brooklyn Nets are already dealing with two major injuries. Yes, Cam Johnson sprained his right ankle during the recent Bucks game. Not only did he not suit up tonight, but the hoopster is also expected to miss the next two games. Well, that’s a massive setback because Cam is having his best individual season, averaging 19.5 points. Also, the team is actively looking to trade him per reports, and this injury hurts his market value.

What’s your perspective on:

With the Nets' injury woes, is their season already over before it truly began?

Have an interesting take?

Meanwhile, Cam Thomas suffered a hamstring strain in the same game and he too is out for an extended period. That takes a consistent 25-point scorer out of the Nets’ lineup. He will be reevaluated after the team’s West Coast road trip, which ends on January 19. Surely, if D’Lo joins these two stars on the sidelines for a significant period, the Brooklyn side will lose their depth and could fall even lower in the standings. Hopefully, D’Angelo Russell returns soon and helps his new team stay afloat.
