Lakers might be in big trouble! They headed into tonight’s Kings clash without their superstar LeBron James as he got ruled out with an illness. But Anthony Davis led the charge in LBJ’s absence and kept his team in the game. However, things took an unfortunate turn when the Lakers suffered back-to-back setbacks with Gabe Vincent and Cam Reddish getting injured in the same quarter.
The first blow came in the opening minutes of the second quarter. As Vincent was guarding Malik Monk, he ran into a hard screen from Domantas Sabonis. Turns out, it was an illegal screen because the Kings star extended his arm, which ended up hitting Vincent in his ribs. Sure enough, Gabe fell straight to the floor in visible pain. Although he was able to continue playing, the guard looked shaken up after the hit and was struggling to run up and down the court. He checked out of the game minutes later.
The second blow came just minutes later as Reddish was trying to box out a Kings player while DeMar DeRozan hit a mid-range jumper. Unfortunately, the Lakers forward got caught in a tussle inside the paint and took a hard hit to the face. While the play continued, Reddish was slow to get back on offense and looked in visible agony as he held his head and kept checking on his nose. Well, his nose was in fact bleeding following the hit and he subbed out seconds later and headed to the locker room.

Meanwhile, AD took care of business on the other end and converted an And-1 play after Reddish got hurt. Both Reddish and Vincent were scoreless before leaving the game due to injury. But the Lakers were only trailing by one point heading into the second half.

As the game resumed, fans were happy to see Reddish back on the court. However, Vincent was ruled out for the remainder of the night. But that blow did not affect the team’s momentum and they took a seventeen-point lead in the third quarter. Sure, there was a moment in the final period when the Kings almost made a successful comeback. Fortunately, AD and Austin Reaves did not let that happen.
Yes, AD went off for a monster 36-point double-double. But it was Reaves who was the star of the night once again as he scored 26 points and dished out a career-high sixteen assists. This is right after his epic game winner against the Warriors. Obviously, the Lakers did not feel the absence of LeBron because of Reaves’ dominant performance and they won the game by ten points, remaining undefeated in the season series against the Kings. Meanwhile, Laker Nation awaits update on Vincent’s injury, hoping for his speedy recovery.
