Are the Suns' championship hopes in jeopardy with Beal and Durant's health issues?

The Suns are on a roll to start this season. But the injury bug could halt their momentum. Yes, they had won eight of their first ten games heading into tonight’s encounter against the Jazz. Unfortunately, they had to play without Kevin Durant, who is out with a left calf strain. Sure enough, Bradley Beal and Devin Booker took care of business in The Slim Reaper’s absence. Although the Suns added another win to their bag, the game finished with concerns surrounding Beal’s health as he abruptly left in the final period.

It was during the 7:19 mark of the fourth quarter that Beal picked up his fourth foul while guarding Collin Sexton. As expected, he subbed out of the game to avoid getting fouled out. But what raised concerns was that he was nowhere to be found on the bench and headed straight to the locker room after checking out of the game.

Moreover, he did not return for the remainder of the game. It was later revealed that he was dealing with left calf tightness, which was the reason for his early exit. Well, health has been a major concern with Beal ever since he joined the Suns. Even last season, he was limited to playing only 53 games because of multiple issues with his back and ankle. On top of that, he has already missed two previous games this season due to a sprained elbow.

And tonight’s calf stiffness only adds to his list of injury concerns. Hopefully, it’s nothing serious as he was just starting to find his groove in the last few games. With KD out, Beal really stepped up his game and scored 28 points in the last game and 24 points tonight. Nevertheless, the Suns head coach advised patience in order to decipher the full extent of Beal’s injury.

Mike Budenholzer awaits an update on Bradley Beal amid praise for Devin Booker

Sure enough, everyone was eager to know about the severity of Beal’s injury. But when asked if he could have returned to the game if the team needed him, Mike Budenholzer said, “I can’t honestly answer that question.” Moreover, the head coach awaits update on the star player just like everyone else, “We’ll see how he does. How he wakes up. What the medical team has for us tomorrow.”

Have an interesting take?

While Beal was out of the game, it was Devin Booker who kept the team afloat and ensured a victory. He went off for a game high 31 points and was practically unstoppable on offense. And Budenholzer acknowledged how crucial Booker’s performance was. He said, “Yeah, he was great. He hit some tough shots. I thought his playmaking at times was really good… He had one of those nights and we needed it.”

Yes, the team could have struggled with KD and Beal out. But Booker’s performance kept their dominant run going. And he would be hoping to be joined by Beal for tomorrow’s encounter against the Kings.
