Anthony Edwards' quick return: sheer determination or risky move? What's your take on his decision?

Coming in as a heavy underdog to the matchup, the Portland Trail Blazers found themselves staying right there, as Anthony Edwards decided to turn the Target Center into his own personal playground. Not that it wasn’t before. But the 23-year-old was on a shooting spree, knocking down treys left, right, and center. If you don’t look too closely, he might even be mistaken for the King of Threes, Steph Curry! But, the ‘Rip City’ did find themselves with a momentary opening in the third quarter.

In what looked like an unforced injury, Anthony Edwards found himself sidelined after tweaking his ankle in the third quarter. ANT exited to the locker room to get the injury checked out. Thankfully, it was nothing serious as Underdog NBA tweeted that he returned from the locker room, taking off where he stopped.

According to Locked On Sports Minnesota host, Jack Borman, “Anthony Edwards is tightening the laces on his left shoe and is back on the floor just 50 seconds of game time after checking out.”

And what did he do right after? Borman once again answers. “[He] immediately steps back onto that left side and makes drains his 7th 3-pointer of the game Very normal Anthony Edwards sequence.” Quite!

Those looking for a close-up look of Ant-Man tweaking that ankle, here you go:

As the Wolves dominated against a helpless Blazers with a 127-102 win, the Georgia alum finished the night with a whopping 37 points! It’s the second time he’s scored that number this season, the first in Minnesota’s 114-120 loss to the Mavs last month. But this time, he achieved 37 in just 30 minutes as opposed to the 37 minutes previously.

And now, to the juicy part; Edwards went 9-of-15 from downtown, just one shy of his career-high, set back in 2021 December at Denver. It is also his fourth career game of eight plus threes. And if the night wasn’t special enough, The Athletic tweeted another iconic moment.

There have been only two players in league history to hit 50+ triples in the first nine games of the season. No doubt you know the first name – none other than ‘Chef Curry’ in the 2018-19 and 2023-24 season. And the second is Georgia’s very own ANT.

“Obviously, we got off to a tough start in the game. They jump out on us. It took us a while to even score,” Chauncey Billups admitted, not beating around the bush and perfectly surmising his team’s plight tonight. The ‘Beaver State’ did not put a number on the board until 5:15. And by then, the T-Wolves already had double-digits, essentially setting the tone for the rest of the night.

Portland finally responded with a 29-11 run, only to trail 57-48 and 64-51 at halftime. The third quarter wasn’t in any way better as ANT went on his scorching three-point shooting. If we were to look at a bright spot, it would be Robert Williams III.

After a year on the sidelines, Williams made an electrifying return in his first game back. It didn’t take long for the ‘Time Lord’ to remind everyone why he was worth the wait. In what was a glimpse of his breakout 2021-22 season, the 27-year-old’s impact was instant. From his defensive efficacy to draining his very first triple, Williams was all over the court.

In just 17 minutes, he pushed out a stat line of 13 points, three rebounds, two assists, and two steals. When all is said and done, the Blazers will have a chance to turn things around after their tip-off with Memphis on Sunday. With back-to-backs against the Wolves, Portland will have the added advantage of playing at home.

So, stay tuned!
