Anthony Edwards might have given the NBA their Dunk of The Year. Edwards was initially having an off night from the field during tonight’s Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Utah Jazz game. He missed his first four three-point attempts and had an underwhelming first-half performance. However, Ant-Man redeemed himself in the second half with one of the most outrageous plays of the season.
Mid-way through the third quarter, Edwards saw an open lane to the basket and elevated for a monster dunk. The Timberwolves star posterized Jazz Center John Collins so hard he even received oohs and aahs from the Utah crowd. Unfortunately, Edwards’ jaw-dropping play led to a painful twist as the 22-year-old dislocated his finger during his unbelievable dunk! His dunk gave the Timberwolves a 67-66 advantage on the scoreboard.
Edwards’ teammates ran towards him to celebrate the insane highlight, but the shooting guard started showing his dislocated finger and headed straight to the locker room to fix it.

Miraculously, the injury was not enough to keep Edwards down for long. He returned to the floor to play the rest of the game. Edwards finished the game with 32 points, 8 assists, and 7 rebounds. His impressive performance helped the Timberwolves beat the Jazz 114-104. However, John Collins didn’t return to the game after what looked like a head injury. As per doctors, the player suffered a head contusion.

What does Edwards think about the dunk? Well, he said, “Hell yeah. What you think? Hell yeah. That was better than the Toronto one, hell yeah. Because the Toronto one, everybody expected me to dunk on him. This one was crazy.” He even called it the best dunk of his career. But Anthony Edwards leading the Timberwolves to victory after suffering an injury scare has become a recent norm.
Anthony Edwards’ risky ventures raise future concern
It has become certain that whenever Anthony Edwards steps on the court, he will put on a show. He has become one of the fastest-rising superstars in the NBA. Many have even compared him to a young Michael Jordan because of his freakish athleticism and competitive mentality. However, his recent on-court ventures might be getting too risky for the Timberwolves’ taste.
Even though Edwards pulled off one of the most lethal dunks in tonight’s game, he nearly jeopardized his future. It was a miracle that the player was able to finish the game despite dislocating his finger. But he might not be that lucky every night.
Edwards might need to learn how to contain his athleticism on the court to avoid major injuries. He has had several incidents in recent games that could have been dangerous for his health. During a game against the Indiana Pacers earlier this month, Edwards nearly fell head-first on the floor after hitting his head on the rim following his game-winning block.
