There was not much to be excited about in tonight’s Grizzlies vs Nets encounter. As expected, it was a one-sided affair as Ja Morant and Co. made light work of the visitors. But there was one moment toward the end of the game that caught everyone’s attention when a heated altercation involving Dennis Schroder, Ja, and both teams’ head coaches led to techs flying all around.

Well, the incident occurred in the closing minutes of the final quarter. Enjoying a comfortable twenty-point lead, Morant began clapping and chirping in the direction of the Nets’ bench. Sure enough, Jordi Fernandez did not appreciate Ja’s taunts and charged toward him to confront him. Then, it looked like Jordi sorted things out with Taylor Jenkins as the Grizzlies head coach was spotted saying, “We’re good. We’re good.”

But the issue escalated when a heated Schroder walked past Jordi and began talking back to Jenkins and the Grizzlies squad. Although it is unclear what Dennis said, it riled up Jenkins, and he questioned the official, You’re gonna let him fu*king talk to me like that… What the fu*k?

Enraged after the altercation, Jenkins went over to the second official and looked extremely animated. Fu*k that sh*t! he yelled.

With tensions boiling, the refs decided to intervene and penalized Schroder, Morant, and Jenkins with a technical foul. Obviously, the techs only calmed the storm for a little while. After the final whistle blew, Jenkins and Jordi walked toward each other to shake hands and bury the hatchet. But Schroder intervened once again and said something to Jenkins, which seemed to re-escalate the issue as both squads began chirping at each other before finally leaving the court.

What’s your perspective on:

Did Ja Morant's taunting cross the line, or is it just part of the game?

Although the altercation reached the tipping point in the final minutes, there was tension between both squads from the very beginning.

Ja Morant’s half-time taunt at Jordi Fernandez might have led to eventual techs

As expected, Ja Morant was on fire tonight as he went off for a game-high 28 points. Moreover, he gave the Nets no chance for a comeback as he closed the first half with an insane step-back buzzer-beater, extending the lead to thirteen points. Adding insult to injury, Morant walked toward Jordi after the shot and continued yelling “Yeah” at his face to taunt him.

Obviously, the Nets head coach did not like Ja’s antics and began staring in the direction of the Grizzlies squad as they headed to the locker room. Well, that incident might have played a part in the final-quarter altercation that led to multiple techs for both teams. But one thing is certain.
