The Land has a double whammy on Tuesday night at TD Garden. After a majestic 15-0 run this season, the Cleveland Cavaliers finally lost their streak against the defending champions. While this may hurt the Cavs’ loyalists, they may have to worry about another major concern. Superstar Donovan Mitchell took a nasty blow off Jayson Tatum‘s shoulders and fell on the floor with grinning pain.
With only 14 seconds left on the clock, the Boston Celtics survived the Cavs’ late resurgence and held a 5-point lead. Spida Mitchell, who had possession of the ball, ran up to the offense, attempting for a back-to-back three-pointer. However, he had Tatum in front of him in the middle of the court. Mitchell slammed his face right onto JT’s shoulders, leaving him immediately on the floor.
The game paused for a bit as the medical staff came in to inspect the star. Visuals from the center showed that the star guard had blood-stained teeth. Fortunately, Mitchell got back on his feet to shoot two free throws. The star seemed visibly in pain, as he squinted his eyes before making both free throws. Following that, the 28-year-old went on with the defense and the team suffered a 120-117 loss.

There isn’t any clarity on the severity of the injury. If it’s a concussion, then Donovan Mitchell will have to miss a few games. Notably, this season, Jamal Murray sustained a concussion and missed three games. However, looking at Mitchell’s two free throws after the blow, it looks like the star has evaded the concussion scare out of the equation.
Notably, heading into tonight’s game, the star guard had missed a game against the Hornets, citing rest. So, we will have to wait for the Cavs’ management to update their injury report to anything further. Nevertheless, it’s also important to highlight the Cavs’ valiant effort to save their streak!
