Looks like the only thing capable enough of stopping the Warriors’ momentum right now is the fire alarm in their own arena. Yes, as the Bay Area team hosted the Pistons tonight, aiming to extend their three-game winning streak, a sudden security concern in Chase Center stopped the game right in its tracks for a brief moment, as panic set in among Dub Nation.

The incident occurred following the end of the opening quarter, as the arena’s fire alarm started blaring during the break. To avoid any mishap, the game was paused and the fans were instructed to head to their nearest exit. “Attention: There has been a fire alarm reported in the building. Proceed to the nearest exit and leave the building. Do not use elevators.” The message on the jumbotron read, as the crowd began clearing the arena.

Bay Area veteran Tim Kawakami even reported that he could smell smoke. But turns out, there was nothing to worry about and it might have been a “false alarm” as the fans were told to settle back in their seats and the game resumed after the minor halt. Even the on-air announcers addressed the scare and assured that things were back to normal, “There was a fire alarm going. We are all clear. We are all safe here.”

As the second quarter began, the announcers further detailed the chaotic few minutes during the break, “It’s been a little you know crazy here the last couple of minutes. We saw a fire alarm turn not fire alarm. The crowd got restless. They got back into it. Then things got a little restless on the court as well.” Meanwhile, her colleague summed it up perfectly, “It was a pump fake of a fire alarm.” Moreover, this is not the first time this season a fire alarm has raised security concerns in an NBA arena.

Fire Alarm caused panic in Celtics’ Locker Room in February taking attention off a Major Signing

While it didn’t happen mid game like tonight, the Celtics also faced a similar concern last month after a clash against the Mavs. During Jaylen Brown’s postgame interview, a fire alarm could be heard constantly blaring in the background. Turns out, the sound was coming from the team’s locker room. Although there was initial panic, it was later revealed that there was nothing to worry about. However, Derrick White addressed the chaotic situation, “That kind of night.”

Well, his team had just suffered a shocking defeat against the Mavs, so the sudden alarm summed up their night perfectly. Moreover, it took attention away from Torrey Craig’s signing, who joined the team that very day. Turns out, Jaylen Brown had no idea about it until the media asked him, “This is news to me. We signed Torrey Craig? It’s my first time hearing about it.”

So, these fire alarms have their way of disrupting the flow of a team. Hopefully, that does not happen to the Warriors as they have been in incredible form since the Jimmy Butler trade, winning ten of their last twelve games. And they would aim to continue their dominance tonight by adding another win to their column despite the minor security threat.
