Stephen Curry and Ayesha Curry were treated to an early arrival of their bundle of joy. Joining Riley, Ryan, and Canon, the Warriors legend announced the birth of their fourth child not too soon ago via an Instagram post. Loving and congratulatory messages flowed in the comment section.

And Steph’s caption showcased his delight at the arrival of the newest member. “Our sweet baby boy decided to make an early arrival!! He’s doing great and we are finally settling in at home as a family of 6! So grateful!”.

“Caius Chai 5/11/24”.

And funny enough, the final part, Caius Chai, is all the rage now as prospective parents and Curry fans are scouring the internet to find out what those unique words mean. “Caius” has a Latin origin and means “rejoice”. As for “Chai,” its origins can be traced back to the Hebrew language and means “life”.

Ayesha Curry had kept her pregnancy under wraps until the millionaire entrepreneur announced it in her lifestyle magazine, Sweet July. Stunning with the pregnancy glow, the mother of three (now four), proudly showcased her baby bump in a series of spectacular photos. Talking to reporters later, the 10x All-Star explained that the couple planned their pregnancy keeping the Olympics in mind.

With the loaded resume that Steph boasts, the only factor missing was an Olympic medal. With his intention to participate in the 2024 Paris Olympics clear, the power couple had to make sure to keep the window open.

Steph missed the previous two opportunities on account of family and health concerns. While the family man that he is does not regret his choices, as a professional athlete, he admitted that there was always that “itch to play and play on the biggest stage like the Olympics.”

Well, with the early arrival of baby Curry, the father in him can be content and the player in him can peacefully take over for his debut in Paris. But for those of you looking for a little more detail on Steph’s boy’s name, here’s some.

A deep dive into Stephen Curry’s son’s name- Caius Chai

If you are a Shakespearean, you might have come across the name Caius in a few of his works. The non-Shakespeare enthusiasts, though, might feel like it’s a name that’s so familiar and yet can’t place it.

A hint? Twilight. Only a handful have escaped the Twilight fever and Stephanie Meyer’s fantasy-romantic thriller.

While Caius might have gone submerged under all the Cullens, Swan, and Black, it was the name of a member of the Volturi – one of the most powerful Vampire covens. But of course, the chances of Steph and Ayesha Curry choosing their baby boy’s name based on a fictional character are unlikely! Also, seeing as they have yet to proclaim their love for Shakespeare, Latin it is. The fact that it was the name of a third-century pope is also a motivating factor, perhaps.

As for Chai, the first thought would be the fragrant Indian beverage. However, in Hebrew, it has much more importance. As mentioned above, the name signifies “life,” but it is also seen as a symbol of vitality, believed to bring good luck and blessings. In modern Jewish culture, it is often worn as a medallion around the neck.

While there are no Jewish connections to the Curry family, Stephen Curry seems to have formed a liking for Hebrew. In fact, the 4x champion has two Hebrew tattoos – one, a quote from the New Testament on his wrist.

The second is his surname in Hebrew. It is possible that his love for the language might have stemmed from his mother’s visit to Israel in 2015. In an interview with an Israeli sports channel, she described the experience as having “transformed [her] spiritually.”

There is no doubt that “Caius Chai” is going to be one of the most, if not the most, popular name for months to come. So, with the birth of their newest member, Stephen Curry can fully focus on his Olympic debut. Who knows, maybe the Curry’s will celebrate a gold medal in the coming weeks!
