As the Valley of the Sun is getting ready to face the Brooklyn Nets, the spotlight is on Kevin Durant. He is having a homecoming of sorts at the Barclays Stadium as the 14x All-Star was part of the Nets for three seasons. Due to that, the Nets fans wanted to make a tribute video for Durant to show him their love and respect. However, KD was not at all intrigued by that because he thought he did not deserve it.
Durant stated his doubts about having a tribute video, saying, “What did I do to deserve that? Seriously, or is it because of my name?” The NBA star downplayed his importance and emphasized that the game is about everyone on the field, not just him. He even went on to give an explanation about why he thinks a video is not necessary for him, saying, “I didn’t feel like I stayed there long enough. I didn’t put in enough work. I didn’t leave a lasting impact. Me and the fans didn’t connect enough for me to feel like a part of them.”
KD further explains why he doesn't want a tribute video from Nets:
"I don’t feel like I deserve one. I didn’t feel like I stayed there long enough. I didn’t put in enough work. I didn’t leave a lasting impact… Me and the fans didn’t connect enough for me to feel like a part of… https://t.co/4edkf9FeKu

At the same time, when the 2x NBA champion returned to the Chase Center to face another of his former teams early this season, the Golden State Warriors honored him with a tribute video. KD even received standing ovations from all the fans and players in the arena, and he did not seem to mind it. Durant played a similar timeframe of three seasons with the Dubs as well. Maybe because he won both of his championships with the Warriors, he has a special with the Dubs fans? This brings us to the question, did he not accomplish anything in Brooklyn?

During Durant’s four seasons with the Nets, the team failed to win an NBA title even though they had a formidable team. Despite assembling a dangerous Big 3 in James Harden and Kyrie Irving, the squad encountered hurdles like as Durant’s Achilles injury recovery and an early playoff departure in 2022. However, KD admits that he had some great moments with the Nets throughout his 4 seasons.
According to him, the match against the Milwaukee Bucks in the 2021 Eastern Conference semifinals had the most “lasting impact,” of his stint with the Nets. He demonstrated his brilliance by putting up a thunderous triple-double and tried everything in his power to aid his team to glory, but the Nets ultimately came up short. Owing to this, the 35-year-old forward may think that he has not done enough for Brooklyn and does not deserve any special treatment.
