Hope everyone’s checked their mailboxes, as the Postman is here to deliver greatness. Dutchman Quinten Post has been making waves since he was drafted into the Warriors in 2024. He’s just 25 and has a long way to go in the NBA.
He’s the first Dutch player to be drafted into the Association in 15 years. He might have his things sorted now, but life wasn’t easy growing up for young Posty back in the Netherlands. So what did it look like?

Where is Quinten Post from? What is the Warriors star’s nationality?
As mentioned earlier, Quinten is from the Netherlands. He was born on 21st March 2000 in the capital city of Amsterdam. The flying Dutchman was made for the sport- his huge 7-foot frame and 238-pound build make him perfect for the sport. But it wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows for him growing up.
He began playing basketball at the age of 11 with the junior teams of Apollo Amsterdam. Though he wasn’t always the coach’s choice to get into the first team, his desire didn’t give up that easily. He played in the second or third teams in his age group. He was a lanky 12-year-old kid with a height of 6’2″ and played as a shooting guard or small forward. Fast forward 4 years- he’s suddenly 6’9″, and was then contemplating on becoming a center instead.
The switch from the 2-3 to the 5 wasn’t the only thing that changed in his life. His entire career was in question after a persisting hip problem had him quit the sport momentarily. But if anything, his time away from the sport made him realise his love and fulled his desire to come back.
“I think it helped me because it really made me realize how much the game means to me and how much it, I don’t know, the grip on life it gave me and I made the decision myself to get back into the game. Yeah, I’ve been in love with it ever since,” said QP during an interview.

He became a pivotal player in Apollo Amsterdam’s system during his time in their U-18s. He also led them to win the Dutch National U18 Championship in 2018, before setting sail for the States.

A deepdive into his college career
Quinten became an international sensation. Despite having offers to play for FC Barcelona Bàsquet B in Spain and KK Mega Basket in Serbia, Post opted to play college basketball in the United States. At first, he pledged his allegiance to the Mississippi Bulldogs. Limited game time in his junior year saw him transfer to the Boston Eagles, and the rest is history.
His graduate year was when he really put a name out for himself in the NCAA. In his final collegiate season, Post started all 35 games, leading the team with averages of 17.0 points, 8.1 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.7 blocks per game. He maintained efficient shooting percentages, with 51.4% from the field and 43.1% from three-point range, which earned him Second-Team All-ACC honors and a spot on the ACC All-Defensive Team.

“He’s a special player. He can bang inside, he can shoot it from outer space. It’s insane how versatile his game is. QP’s the best player I’ve ever played with in my life,” said teammate and roommate Devin McGlockton. He even had coach Earl Grant on strings when he said, ““He’s like a transformer. On the court, he turns into a different character.”
