Born in a basketball family, Detroit Pistons star Malik Beasley was introduced to basketball pretty early. By the age of just 2, he had the basketball in his hand. “My first word was ‘basket.” said the Pistons sharpshooter in an interview with NBA. Soon, his dad put Malik into an organization basketball YMCA program where he would learn to hoop.
His dad’s support was nothing short of instrumental from early morning workouts to practice games, his father was standing right beside his son to support him. The hard work and grit soon paid off as when it was time to pick a college, Malik had several options to choose from and he and his dad chose Florida State as Malik’s new home.
As a freshman Malik was outstanding averaging 15.6 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game. After just a single season in Florida, the NBA came calling. However, declaring for the Draft would mean leaving the school but Malik and his dad saw the importance of finishing his studies.

“You never know when basketball is going to end. So to myself, my dad, and my mom, it was no question I would keep going to school and finish.” With a nod from his family Malik declared for the NBA Draft and was picked up by the Denver Nuggets as the 19th overall pick. Born to parents Michael Beasley and Deena Beasley both of whom are of African-American descent, Malik is a proud African-American himself. His journey in basketball started at Saint Francis School where he played his high school basketball.
As a senior at Saint Francis Malik averaged an impressive 22.2 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 1.9 steals which was enough to earn him Class 1A Player of the Year of the Georgia honors and also being named for the All-State Class A First Team. Throughout his journey, his parents were incredibly supportive and active helping him achieve his hooping dreams.

But just like his better half Michael is also an actor and is well-known for his roles in Rap Sh*t as Uncle Calvin on HBO Max, and Netflix’s show Bloodline as Lil Jake.
He has also worked with Denzel Washington in several of his films and the pair share a great on and off-screen relationship.
