“It was great for me. I got to get in front of a lot of teams and talk to a lot of people. The main feedback I got is that I’m a guy that pretty much does everything, a guy whose game can translate and be a role player in the NBA and help stars be who they are.” This is how Kevin McCullar Jr. summed up his experience of talking to different NBA teams. After Kansas’ early exit in the NCAA Tournament in 2023, he declared for the NBA pre-draft process.

Though he was in touch with quite a few NBA teams and their front office reps, he decided to return for a final season with Kansas. And all the hard work he put in with the Jayhawks finally paid off as he made it to the NBA as the 56th overall pick by the Phoenix Suns but he was immediately traded to the New York Knicks.
