Five months after suffering from a cardiac arrest, Bronny James is set to make a return to the basketball court. Bronny suffered an arrest and collapsed during a practice session due to a congenital heart defect. Fortunately, James’ family made it through the adversity and the 19-year-old is as healthy as ever. LeBron and Savannah James made it clear that this incident would not interfere with their son’s career. The University of Southern California fresher will soon make his debut with the Trojans. The team are at 5-2 and will play Gonzaga Bulldogs, who are currently at 11, in Las Vegas today. Their next match is against Long Beach State on 10 December which could be Bronny’s debut match.
Like his father James, Bronny is a versatile player and is considered a five-star recruit. He is also touted to be one of the top prospects in the 2024 NBA draft class.
Bronny’s senior season in Sierra Canyon High

Bronny is a 2023 Sierra Canyon graduate in Chatsworth, Calif. As a senior, he averaged 13.8 points, grabbed 5.5 rebounds, made 2.7 assists, and had 1.8 steals per game. He shot 47.5% from the field, 33.3% from the three-point range, and 68.3% from the free-throw line.
Bronny helped lead Sierra Canyon to a 26-5 record and a Southern California Interscholastic Athletic Federation (CIF) Open Division championship. He was also named a 2023 McDonald’s All-American. James was selected to represent Team USA at the 2023 Nike Hoop Summit, where he helped the team to a 90-84 victory. He had 11 points and 4 rebounds in the game.
Father James will not miss Bronny’s debut at USC
After Bronny was cleared out by the medical staff to play with the Trojans, immediately after LeBron immediately said, that he would miss his Lakers game if they played on the same day as Bronny’s debut game. “Family over everything,” LeBron said.
Bronny’s debut is indeed a huge event for the James family. Family Man LeBron on multiple occasions has talked about his desire to play with Bronny in the NBA. LeBron has a few years left in the league before retiring, so a father-son duo match-up either in the same team or as opponents is not far from turning into reality. The expectations are high and the media is scrutinizing every move and update.
