The Warriors are struggling. They headed into last night’s Suns clash, hoping to snap their three-game losing streak. And they did that successfully by protecting home court. However, the frustration in their camp was evident as a microphone caught Draymond Green cursing out Buddy Hield amid his scoreless performance, “Wake the f**k up. Or go sit the f**k down.” But Green was surprisingly unbothered by his outburst, getting caught on camera and issued a stern warning to his teammates.
Addressing his recent usage at the five spot, Green said, “We gotta do what we gotta do to win games whatever that looks like.” Although Draymond admitted that he did not want to play as a Center coming into this season, he is willing to do so if it translates to wins, “I love to win. And more importantly, I hate to lose. That’s what it looks like.” Moreover, he expects his teammates to have the same mentality. “I told the guys we’re all gonna get traded out of here, so we better win some games.”

With the trade deadline approaching and the Warriors still stuck on the tenth spot, Green made it clear that no player is safe from a potential trade. That’s because Joe Lacob wants to win now while Steph is still playing at a high level. Maybe, that’s why Draymond was so harsh on Hield last night, as he said post-game, “As a leader, you have to try different methods… I’ve played with Buddy now for 30 games. Trying to learn what makes him tick… To go at Buddy the way I did, we needed that in that moment.”
The former DPOY highlighted the importance of accountability on the team and revealed how his new teammates Dennis Schroder and Kyle Anderson have openly gone at him in the past for making mistakes, “Got ya, no problem.” And Draymond did the same to Hield for not passing the ball when he was struggling to shoot and had a defender on him. Hield went scoreless on zero of seven shooting.

Apart from talking about his leadership tactics, Draymond also scoffed at the idea of the mic catching his verbal beatdown, “Mics catch everything today, but I don’t care. Cause anything I’ll say, I’ll say it right into the mic. I don’t give a da*n.” Although Hield is a solid shooter, he was having an off night yesterday. And Green did not want him making a bad play during a close game, “we got a post for you and you got a six-foot guy on you, get the ball there. It’s simple.”
Additionally, Draymond pointed out its his responsibility to transfer his knowledge to his teammates, “I happen to play a lot of championship basketball, lot of meaningful basketball. Buddy hasn’t had the opportunity to play a bunch of meaningful basketball in this league. Guess what? It’s our job to make sure he understands what that means. And if people don’t like it, so be it. That’s why they don’t have four championships and I do.” Yes, Hield is a veteran in this league and a career 40.1% shooter from deep range. But he only played in his first playoff game last season.
Microphones caught Draymond Green lighting into Buddy Hield tonight (“Wake the f*** up or go sit the f*** down”).
He went into detail about that moment and the general leadership this team needs.

Meanwhile, Draymond has been playing winning basketball his entire career. Sure enough, he wants Hield and the rest of his teammates to be on the same wavelength as him, which could lead to occasional stern words to get the point across. But if this helps the Warriors turn their season around, it will all be worth it in the end.
