At first, Kyle Kuzma, the power forward for the Washington Wizards, officially declined his $13 million player option for the 2023-24 season. Kuzma had initially signed this deal with the Lakers before being traded to the Wizards as part of the trade for Russell Westbrook in 2021. Earlier in free agency, there were reports suggesting a possible reunion with the Lakers, as he could have potentially been a better version of their current combo forward, Rui Hachimura.

In that case, the Lakers might have needed to renounce their rights to Hachimura, who was a restricted free agent, to allow for a potential Kuzma reunion. The free agency decisions promised to be intriguing for both Kuzma and the Lakers until Kuzma signed the deal with the Wizards.?Motivated by the trust shown by his current team, Kuzma is not taking the upcoming season lightly. Recently, the USA Select Team named Jalen Green in the squad for the preparation of the FIBA World Cup. Green will be giving a backup option for the World Cup roster.

Green finished his second season with impressive stats, averaging 22.1 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game. He shot 42.6 percent from the field and 33.8 percent from beyond the arc.
