In a recent podcast episode of Club Shay Shay,?the NBA personality was asked about Zion’s struggles with his body conditioning. “I don’t think he cares enough,”?Stephen replied before adding, “I believe he is in a market, he don’t wanna be in”.?So, Stephen hinted at how playing for a small market team like the Pelicans might be hampering Williamson’s growth.

The journalist believed that representing an NBA team with a better market appeal would boost the 23-year-old’s chances of improving. As a Knick supporter, Smith stated, “I believe if he was in New York…we?d see a more dedicated Zion to his physicality”.?The 55-year-old thus questioned the 2-time All-Star’s zeal for his craft.

“You can’t walk around as big as he is and tell me you dedicated,”?he stated criticising Zion. He justified the doubts raised on the passion of the foreword by adding, “I think it’s fair to question his commitment to his conditioning”.?This leads us to a critical question.

He has only played 114 games in his NBA career, in the first four seasons. Despite signing a unique extension worth $193 million with his franchise before the start of last season, not much has changed.
