Brandon Miller is making quite the headlines for his exquisite gameplay. Being in his rookie season, this certainly is applaudable for the Charlotte Hornets’ shooting guard. The 6’9 was a consensus five-star recruit.
The 20-year-old played his college basketball for the Alabama Crimson Tide. The Hornets picked him in Round 1, ahead of Scoot Henderson. Making 37 appearances for Alabama, Miller registered 18.8 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 2.1 assists. In the preseason game against the Washington Wizards, Miller put up some ferocious play that eventually met with unfortunate destiny. Wonder what really happened that led to this? A Thunderous Jam by Brandon Miller
During the game, Miller blew up a thunderous jam over the Wizards’ spearhead Daniel Gafford. The move, although praiseworthy, ended up in an unlucky fate. The dunk was declared null and void and was called out as an offensive foul. In a video uploaded by Bleacher Report on X (formerly Twitter), the scene is captured beautifully.

The dunk made the Hornets’ bench scream in excitement, displaying an unruly reaction from players. LaMelo Ball, as well as other players jumped out of their seats to celebrate. Their excitement though, called for a technical foul against the Hornets. After the dunk, Gafford remained stretched out on the floor with his arms and legs spread apart.
The NBA now, has restricted rules on imprudent celebrations from sitting on bench. They took the measure to uphold professionalism, sportsmanship and fairness within the game. Players can even get fined for celebrating excessively. The Hornets eventually lost the match 92-98.

The GOAT Tag to Paul George
While getting drafted for the NBA, Miller caught the attention of fans through a controversy. He was asked if the debate’s getting overplayed between Michael Jordan and LeBron James. Miller replied, “I actually don’t think LeBron is the GOAT of basketball, my GOAT of basketball is Paul George and I always grew up watching him so it was never just LeBron.”
