It seems like the Washington Wizards have taken a page out of the Commanders’ book and are hell-bent on leaving their fans disappointed. Jordan Poole was one of the centerpieces of the franchise last season, but his faltering form didn’t help their cause. The whole team is stuck in a limbo between tanking and pushing for the post-season. As the upcoming season approaches, clarity is essential, but the injury to their recent acquisition, Malcolm Brogdon, poses a significant setback.
The combo guard hadn’t even settled with the team before being sidelined by a hand injury. The Athletic’s Josh Robbins broke the news. “During a practice Saturday at McGill University, veteran guard Malcolm Brogdon injured his right hand, prompting Wizards officials to send him back to Washington for detailed imaging exams to determine the severity of the injury. Even before that imaging took place, a league source told The Athletic that Brogdon is expected to miss at least one month,” the Insider stated in his report.

The Wizards have a few backup options to replace the veteran guard. However, it seems safer to go for an experienced guard like Jordan Poole to fill in the Brogdon-sized void. Though the PG couldn’t show his true potential following his departure from the Warriors, his championship expertise could come in handy for the Wizards during the 31-year-old’s absence.
In his first season with the Wizards, Poole got to spend more than thirty minutes per night in his 78 appearances. Poole managed to score 17.4 points while distributing 4.4 assists and nabbing 1.1 steals.
Even in their first preseason game against the Raptors, Poole Party contributed a team-high 16 points and 6 assists, but the Wizards were no match for them, losing 98-125 in the game. But Poole confirmed that he’s finally back with the team.

“He’s Jordan Poole,” Kuzma added. “I don’t think last year he necessarily was. He was a little bit quiet, a little bit standoffish. We have the same agency, and I know for a fact from conversations that that was not him, and I think that I see more of what Jordan Poole is now.”
Naturally, when Poole took a seat for the presser, the reporters told him what Kuzma had highlighted about him. With a smile on his smile, Poole addressed the question, “I mean, he (Poole) never left.” To which a chorus of laughter filled the room. He gave a shout-out to the coaches and the organization that helped him be himself.
Following his infamous altercation with former teammate Draymond Green, he joined the Wizards after four seasons with the Dubs. So it took him to adjust to the new environment. Moreover, the mentality of the Warriors was different from the Wizards.

“It was new for me to go just through the losing process, honestly,” Poole confessed. “Obviously, we’re in a rebuilding phase, but it was a transition year. There was a lot of movement, a lot of new things, a lot of new pieces on both sides. But now coming into Year 2, we have a little bit more clarity in what we want to do, a little bit more direction in what we want to do.”
Poole believes the clarity would help the team be on the same page and achieve their goal. As for him, Poole said there was no need to worry, as he would show the upcoming season how good he is.
