Can the Warriors do it again? Last night, they pulled off a miraculous comeback against the Pelicans and blew them out by eighteen points. That too without Stephen Curry and Andrew Wiggins, who were out due to health concerns. And tonight, they host them once again for a rematch, hoping to produce a similar outcome. Unfortunately, the lineups are unlikely to look any different because both teams are set to miss multiple key players.
As per the Warriors’ injury report, Steph will remain out tonight as he is still recovering from a left peroneal strain. And he is expected to be re-evaluated on Friday, which will reveal his timeline for return. Meanwhile, Wiggins, who missed yesterday’s game due to lower back strain has a ‘questionable’ status for the rematch. Well, he suffered the injury during Sunday’s Clippers game and Steve Kerr revealed that it did not happen because of a specific play and his back randomly tightened up.
Surprisingly, De’Anthony Melton is dealing with a similar back issue, which is why he did not play last night and will remain out tonight as well. And he too will be re-evaluated before the Rockets game. Meanwhile, the Pels have also been plagued by the injury bug. Just last night, Herb Jones left the game mid-way after injuring his shoulder while diving for a lose ball. Although there is no report on him as of now, he could miss the rematch because of the injury.

Apart from him, Dejounte Murray will be out as he underwent surgery last week after breaking his hand during the Bulls game. And he is expected to miss four to six weeks of action. Similarly, Trey Murphy III is also out with a hamstring injury and his status will be updated in two weeks as he continues his rehab. So, both teams are going into tonight’s game shorthanded.

Warriors and Pelicans’ Depth Chart as injuries take toll on both teams
With Steph, Wiggs, and Melton out, this is what the Warriors’ lineup could look like:
Positions | Starters | 2nd | 3rd |
PG | Brandin Podziemski | Lindy Waters III | Pat Spencer |
SG | Buddy Hield | Gary Payton II | Reece Beekman |
SF | Moses Moody | Jonathan Kuminga | Gui Santos |
PF | Draymond Green | Kyle Anderson | Quinten Post |
C | Trayce Jackson-Davis | Kevon Looney |
Although Kerr will need to make some adjustments, it is possible that he goes with the same starting five. Meanwhile, the Pels will have to make some key changes after Herb’s unfortunate injury:

Positions | Starters | 2nd | 3rd |
PG | Jose Alvarado | Brandon Boston Jr. | Antonio Reeves |
SG | CJ McCollum | Jordan Hawkins | Jamal Cain |
SF | Brandon Ingram | Javonte Green
PF | Zion Williamson | Jeremiah Robinson-Earl
C | Daniel Theis | Yves Missi |
Yes, Jose Alvarado could replace Jones as a starter while McCollum makes the transition to shooting guard. With the terrific start to the game they had last night, the rest of the lineup is likely to remain the same. Surely, the Pels will come with a sense of redemption to make up for yesterday’s embarrassing loss. Meanwhile, the Warriors will try their best to protect home court yet again.
