The New York Knicks have been on fire recently. They have won 4 of their last 5 games and improved to a 40-27 record. However, OG Anunoby’s heartbreaking return to the injury report could jeopardize the rest of their season. Just three games after returning from an 18-game hiatus, the 26-year-old has been ruled out again for tonight’s Knicks vs. Warriors clash.
Anunoby will not suit up for tonight’s game due to right elbow injury management. According to NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski, OG’s elbow injury has “flared up again” and could keep him out of action for a long time. “I am told that OG is gonna be out more than just tonight,” Woj said. The Knicks Forward needs more time to recover from his elbow injury that kept him out for nearly two months. Not only will Anunoby miss tonight’s game, but it is “unclear” when he will return to the lineup.

Anunoby underwent surgery last month to remove a bone fragment from his right elbow. He missed 18 games to recover from the surgery and returned to the lineup last Tuesday against the Philadelphia 76ers. Unfortunately, OG’s return lasted only three games. The Knicks have been undefeated since Anunoby’s return, showing his impact on the team’s success. Jalen Brunson and Co. have an amazing 15-2 record with OG in the lineup. With OG back on the injury report, the Knicks will have to return to playing shorthanded. Their season has been plagued by injuries, with several stars, including Julius Randle and Mitchell Robinson, missing the majority of the games.
OG Anunoby Stats
OG Anunoby joined the New York Knicks in December 2023 after the Toronto Raptors traded him in exchange for RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley. OG has been key to the Knicks’ success since joining the team. He has averaged 14.5 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.6 assists in the 17 games he has played for the Knicks. Not only has Anunoby been great on offense, but he has also made an impact on the defensive end. OG has been a lockdown defender for the Knicks, averaging 1.7 steals and 1.1 blocks.

If the Knicks want to make a deep run in the playoffs, they will need Anunoby back in the lineup soon. Anunoby has experience playing in high-pressure playoff situations. He helped the Raptors win their first Championship in 2019. And he can do the same for the Knicks if he fully recovers from his elbow injury before the playoffs start. The Knicks are hoping for OG’s reaggravated injury to calm down so that he can return to the lineup soon.
