The Golden State Warriors and LA Clippers‘ game tonight took a turn for the worse as a nasty brawl broke out. In what was a clear, flagrant foul from Mason Plumlee against Brandin Podziemski, the Chase Center witnessed a mini “Malice at the Palace” segment minus the fans.
Plumlee got fouled, and it seemed like he didn’t like it, as in the next instant he went right after Podz. He swiped at Brandin for the ball and immediately fouled him, causing Podziemski to fall. And he walked right off to the bench. Jonathan Kuminga wasn’t happy with the turn of events.
The matchup came to a standstill as both teams, players, and coaches all went at it. The stadium security had to be called to break up the fight. And the referees assessed Plumlee for a Flagrant 1. Kuminga also got a tech for his shove.

Before this, Ty Lue got his second technical foul and was ejected from the game for getting into a heated altercation with the ref. Lue let his emotions get the best of him. Had James Harden not stopped him from going after the ref, the situation would have been worse.
Despite it all, the Clippers managed to put the Dubs away with a 130-125 victory. Aside from this, the Warriors’ veteran guard, Draymond Green, took an elbow to the face from Ivica Zubac early in the third quarter. Although he left for the locker room during the timeout, he was cleared to return after a check for concussion came back negative.

While it is usually Dray who does the punches and elbows, this time, he was on the receiving end. Of course, it was not intentional. Green was trying to get a rebound off his missed shot attempt. But he did not think it through that the guy next to him was a 7-foot 240-pound behemoth. Zubac stood his ground and Dray was on the floor.

But this wouldn’t be the first time that the Clippers and Warriors have gotten into a fight.
The bad blood between the Clippers and Warriors continue
About 10 years prior, during a seven-game series, which LA won, there was an altercation much like tonight. But that fight happened behind closed doors, so to speak. After the Clippers won 126-121 on May 3, 2014, there was a verbal back-and-forth in the tunnel.

Multiple sources had revealed to Sam Amick of USA Today, that the police who were stationed there had to intervene to break up what could have been a very nasty scuffle. Surprisingly, the veteran point guard of the Warriors now, Chris Paul, was a major reason for the verbal tussle to have broken out. Although that angle seemed to have been buried, the franchise’s rivalry doesn’t seem to have subdued.
