24 games into the season and the Warriors are still not set on their starting lineup. Well, Steve Kerr has experimented with multiple combinations to see what works best and it has produced decent results on most occasions. However, it looks like the squad needs a secondary superstar next to Stephen Curry to get rid of this problem once and for all. That’s why Cam Johnson has reportedly been on their radar for a potential trade. Amid the buzz, veteran insider Bobby Marks proposed another big name that could solve Kerr’s dilemma.
Zion Williamson! Yes, the Pelicans star is out indefinitely with a left hamstring strain and has suited up for only six games so far. But Marks believes he could be the star the Warriors need, “If you’re looking for that next superstar that maybe has that upside, I think Williamson could be that guy if he’s healthy.”
Obviously, Joe Lacob will be forced to give up some assets to make room for Zion’s $36.7 million salary for this season. That’s why the insider proposed a trade package that included Andrew Wiggins, Brandin Podziemski, and Kevon Looney. These three stars combine for a salary of $37.8 million. Moreover, the Pels might be intrigued by this offer because it provides them with more depth and players with championship experience.

As far as Zion goes, he could be that internal presence the Warriors need. Just last season, he played a career-high seventy games and averaged 22.9 points and nearly six rebounds. When healthy, he is an All-Star caliber player. WHEN HEALTHY! But that has been a major concern with Zion and it will be interesting to see if the Warriors make a move for him or continue their pursuit of Cam Johnson.
Cam Johnson reportedly remains the Warriors’ “Top Trade Target”

Although there is no doubting Zion’s talent, his frequent unavailability raises major concerns. That’s why he could fall down the ranks of the Warriors’ trade targets as Cam continues to be their primary choice. As per veteran insider Evan Sidery, the Nets star “appears to be their top trade target.” Moreover, the two franchises have reportedly been in active talks for a potential trade.
Obviously, Johnson has significantly upped his market value this year, averaging a career-high 18.8 points while shooting 43.4% from deep range. And that’s exactly what most contending teams are looking for—a length player with elite shooting. Sidery also mentioned that the Warriors might have to trade away their young star Jonathan Kuminga to acquire the Nets’ big man. Sure enough, Kuminga’s future in the Bay Area has been in question ever since his failed extension talks with the team. And dealing him away for an experienced star like Cam might not be a bad idea. Who do you think the Warriors should pursue?
