Several clubs, notably the Warriors and the Philadelphia 76ers, contacted the Lakers about a trade for LeBron James. While negotiations with the Sixers were brief, Lakers owner Jeanie Buss advised the Warriors to contact James’ agent, Rich Paul, to evaluate his interest. However, James stated that he was satisfied being a Laker and ended all trade discussions.
So, as the 2024 NBA trade deadline may have passed without any major deals, the rumors surrounding LeBron James and the Golden State Warriors were also slowly coming to an end as James eventually chose to stay with the Los Angeles Lakers. However, an NBA insider confirmed that a trade to the Warriors is still a possibility.

According to ESPN’s Zach Lowe, the Warriors have still not lost hope when it comes to acquiring the Akron Hammer. On the ESPN show “Get Up” he said, “You can’t blame the Warriors for trying. And despite what Rich Paul said to Stephen A. Smith yesterday, despite everyone saying LeBron wants to be a Laker forever, I don’t think the Warriors are done trying because like Steph said ‘Why not pick up the phone and keep trying'”

So, despite his current commitment to the Lakers, there are grounds to believe that Bron may consider joining the Warriors in the future. He signed a two-year, $99 million contract deal with the Lakers in 2022, which includes a player option for the 2024-25 season. This option allows James to become an unrestricted free agency and pursue other possibilities, particularly if he believes the Lakers are not a legitimate title contender.
The Warriors, on the other hand, might free up enough salary space to sign James if they let go of some players and make some smart decisions. Also on a personal level, James has formed strong connections with Warriors players such as Draymond Green, whom he formerly regarded as his opponent during the Warriors-Cavaliers Finals series. Their relationship, combined with James’ appreciation for Stephen Curry’s talent, might influence his choices in some way.
