The Golden State Warriors signed Green to a four-year $100 million deal last year. Coming off a tough loss in the second round, the Dubs were hoping to improve. However, things didn’t go as expected as the Warriors would go on to by far their worst season with Steph, Klay, and Green in the active roster. At this point, Klay and the Warriors do not have any negotiations planned to make space for the four-time champ. But in the end, fans would expect the Dubs to at least offer a ‘thank you’ contract, considering KT’s immense contribution to the franchise.

Still, the Warriors would not be willing to do so, mainly because of their mistake in the past. “Draymond Green, after one year, as still effective as a player as Draymond Green is, if he’s going to be suspended for 25 games for the remaining three years of his contract that’s a bad deal that’s a bad contract.”, said Evan Giddings. Green brings the energy on the floor. But it is a raising concern if he isn’t active on the court due to past reasons. While the Dubs may regret the $100 million contract, Green compensates the best for his mistakes.

The Klay Thompson situation isn’t improving either. According to Anthony Slater, the Dubs haven’t offered the Sea Captain any contract. This is one of the situations where Thompson and the Warriors are open to exploring but can reunite in the end. Klay might come back if he doesn’t find a suitable three-year deal. Whereas for the Warriors, they can look to add another star.

Recently names like Paul George and Jimmy Butler have been popular in the markets. Along with that, the Warriors who have the assets to trade for Butler, might give it a chance regardless of what happens with Klay. However, would this be worth it?

Can Jimmy Butler replace Klay?

KT made his career in Golden State. The shooting guard along with his splash brother formed the historic backcourt. At one point, he was the second-best shooter in the league, only behind his teammate. But as complicated as things have become, the Warriors might consider adding Himmy Butler. Of course, he isn’t as big of a threat from beyond the arc, but what he brings to the table is just what the Warriors need.

With guys like Podziemski, Kuminga, and Moody showing exceptional potential, the Dubs need not worry about the shooting aspect. Adding Butler to the roster would compensate for when Steph and Green take a breather. Besides, Butler along with Wiggins would make a great duo. Both are a serious threat from mid-range and have similar play styles.

It will be interesting to see whether the Warriors go for Butler or even PG13 this summer. Which star do you want to see in Golden State if not Klay? Let us know in the comments.
