Are NBA fans justified in their frustration over inconsistent officiating under Adam Silver's watch?

Throughout its lengthy history, the NBA has faced increasing scrutiny from officials. Most people prefer clear and definitive calls instead of subjective ones, as these lead to inconsistency. Adam Silver once mentioned training the officials to make better calls for the betterment of the league.

On the other hand, fans want better calls showcased during the games played with a lot of chaos around the calls. Well, yes, most fans prefer Adam Silver out of his position because of some of these issues. A long list of candidates? Well, one won’t compete for sure!

Remarkably, the Golden State Warriors legend Chris Mullin would not want to stand for the NBA presidential role. He loves his life too much to take up new jobs after a glittering career. To the question put forward by NBC Sports’ Bonta Hill of whether he wants to stand for the role, Mullin replied, “If I do so happen to win the presidency of the NBA competition committee, I will not accept the job.”

Simply “because I just love my life right now. No phone calls. No emails. But if I am going for it, I am going to turn it down. I got great ideas. But I don’t feel like executing them on a daily basis.” Most times when a player retires from the league, the player wants to stay in the game to keep in touch with the game. Mullin chose otherwise!

The 5x NBA All-Star wants to keep his life under the sunset. He even hates traveling by giving a hilarious take, “I miss you guys too much. Traveling is overrated and I like my rest. Peace and quiet, that is the stage of life I am in right now.” On the contrary, the officiating in the NBA caused a lot of concerns for players. Some fans don’t like the calls they take before the foul, which leads to disgruntlement.

Adam Silver aims to sort out the officiating mess!

In the same show, the host asked Mullin, “The officials are getting better with time man,” to which, Mullin sarcastically replied, “And that’s a problem” Multiple examples spring to our minds regarding the current state of officiating in the league Despite Adam Silver looking to solve the issue, the use of replay center received criticism, as well as applause. A similar sentiment goes through soccer with the use of VAR.

One referee who always makes the headlines is Tony Brothers. Conspicuously, he made some bizarre calls in the game between the Milwaukee Bucks and Boston Celtics. He gave two technical fouls to Jayson Tatum and coach Joe Mazzulla for protesting against a shot clock violation. In the events leading up to the techs, they decided to give a green signal to Jrue Holiday’s lay-up, which the fans saw clearly touching the rim when the shot clock expired.

They also called a phantom foul on Jaylen Brown, which put Damian Lillard on the line for three free throws. All the calls irk the players, coaches, and fans. This is just one example out of many.

Hopefully, Adam Silver can mend the refereeing situation in the league right now. Otherwise, we sign a petition for Chris Mullin to take up the brand-new presidential role.
