Stephen Curry might not suit up as the Warriors face off against the Rockets. Even so, the latest injury updates about the Bay Area superstar are positive. Curry, who sustained a left ankle peroneal strain in the fourth quarter of their Sunday matchup with the Clippers, had been out for the last two games.
And according to Anthony Slater, it seems like Steph could “theoretically” take the floor against the Wizards. The Athletic reporter also mentioned that the 4x champion would practice with the rest of the team in Houston, albeit only parts of it.
“Steph Curry will participate in parts of practice tonight in Houston, I’m told. Starting now. Out tomorrow. But re-evaluated on Sunday. Sounds like he could theoretically return on Monday at Wizards.”

However, he isn’t the only one who will miss the Rockets game. The Warriors’ $12.8 million worth guard, De’Anthony Melton, is also on the injury report. During the Clippers matchup, Melton also exited in the fourth quarter due to a lower back strain. Since then, the 26-year-old has missed the Dubs’ back-to-back triumph over the Pelicans.
And per Slater, he is likely to miss at least the next three games, meaning Stephen Curry will probably get back to playing form before Melton. “De’Anthony Melton will miss at least the next three games at Rockets, at Wizards and at Celtics, I’m told. Making progress from back issue that’s forced him out of last two games. Re-evaluated next Thursday,” the senior writer tweeted.

Given De’Anthony’s history with back injuries last season, Coach Kerr opined that the team would be dealing with his current injury considering those, according to ESPN’s Kendra Andrews.
As for Steph, Steve Kerr has an answer to that, too.
Warriors coach gives a positive update on Stephen Curry: “He looks good”
As mentioned above, Stephen Curry was cleared to participate in segments of the team’s practice. And from what we can see, the 36-year-old looks on track to get back to the floor. Bleacher Report’s Grant Afseth posted a video of Curry getting his shots up and they are a delight to watch.
“Stephen Curry (ankle) getting shots up after Golden State Warriors practice. He did not practice live today and won’t play tomorrow night against the Houston Rockets,” Afseth wrote.

This falls just in line with what Coach Kerr said to the Dallas-based reporter earlier. When asked how much Stephen did in practice, the 59-year-old replied, “He didn’t do anything live, but lot of conditioning, a lot of running, movement, and stuff. He looks good.”

Kerr also confirmed that Curry will stay sidelined when the Golden State faces Houston and they will re-evaluate him on Sunday. On a side note, Andrew Wiggins, who also missed two games due to a low back strain, is on track to suit up for Saturday. And again, according to Slater, the Warriors coach said that the Canadian forward will be back in the starting lineup upon his return.
That said, if the 10x All-Star will be sidelined for any longer, there’s no doubt that it will affect the Dubs’ production. However, on the upside, expect to see more from Gary Payton II, Moses Moody, Brandin Podziemski, and Buddy Hield as they step up to help keep the team steady until their leader is back.
