The Golden State Warriors are looking to ramp up their form with just 14 more games remaining for them in the regular season. Each upcoming game is vital to them since each win can help improve their chances of qualifying for the playoffs and avoid the dreaded play-in series. While players like Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson are handling the offensive front, it is up to Warriors star Draymond Green to handle the defensive flak. Given the weeks-long issue with his lower back, however, the player’s availability for the next game has once again been placed under question.
A couple of hours ago, an X handle named ‘Underdog NBA’ provided an update from the latest injury report released before the faceoff against the Indiana Pacers. The tweet shared by the handle highlighted that “Draymond Green (back) listed probable for Friday.” This would mean that the 34-year-old has a very good chance of showing up at the Chase Center to take on Tyrese Haliburton and the rest of the Pacers.

Draymond Green has been dealing with soreness in his lower back since the second half of the regular season commenced. It forced him to drop out a week ago against the Dallas Mavericks, a game in which the Warriors lost by 10 points. Green showed no signs of discomfort during his recent matchup against the Memphis Grizzles. In fact, when asked about it by a reporter, the player expressed confidence in himself by stating “I can do it. I’m cut out for it. I don’t overly worry about it because I know we have fives that are perfectly capable of taking over and doing what we need them to do. It’s not something I think about.”
The ongoing season has not been much merciful towards the Warriors, causing them to be placed as the 10 seed on the points table. Stephen Curry’s recent injury initially dampened their steady progression as well. With both Curry and Green back, however, fans will have to wait and see whether the franchise’s last-ditch effort will bear some fruit or not.

How have the Warriors performed with and without Draymond Green?
Draymond Green has missed over 25 games this season. The majority of it can’t be attributed to his injury, since the player was suspended for over 21 of them due to his on-court actions. When the player was available on the court, the Warriors developed a win-loss record of 25-18. In his absence, the franchise generated an 11-14 record. If one needs to know why the player’s availability is so important during the next few games, then all they need to do is look at these figures.
There wasn’t much variation in terms of points when the player was not present. However, there was a slight drop in terms of rebounds and assists during the same. Draymond Green’s absence had a direct effect on Stephen Curry’s scoring ability, as the pressure increased for the player to handle both the offensive and the defensive play. Curry’s scoring average dropped from 27.8 to 25 points, while his 3-point percentage slid from 41.4 to 38.8%. A similar level of drop was seen in his field goal percentage as well.
