As the Warriors headed into tonight’s game against the Grizzlies, they were still buzzing from Tuesday’s win. Obviously, it was their first win of the NBA Cup group stage and they also got bragging rights over Klay Thompson by defeating him on his Bay Area return. Unfortunately, their momentum took a massive halt mid-way through the Grizzlies’ encounter as Lindy Waters III took a scary fall that led to him leaving the game. And fans could do nothing but pray for him while Draymond Green watched helplessly.
The incident occurred in the closing minutes of the first half when Draymond turned the ball over on an inbound pass from Waters. And Jaren Jackson Jr. saw the fastbreak opportunity and passed the ball to Santi Aldama for an easy shot opportunity. But as Aldama was about to finish the layup, Waters came out of nowhere and swatted his shot. Although his effort led to a big stop, he landed awkwardly on his left foot after the block and immediately fell to the floor.
Well, he was in visible agony as he rolled on the hardwood favoring his knee. And he stayed there for several minutes while the team staff checked on him. Although he was able to get back up, he could not continue playing and hobbled to the locker room.

Adding to the concerns, it was later reported that he hyperextended his left knee. Sure enough, he was done for the night and finished with eight points. As expected, the fans were devastated by the update.
NBA World blames Draymond Green for Lindy Waters’ Injury
Dub Nation was left heartbroken after Waters’ injury and comments like “So unfortunate. He was looking good out there” and “He was balling out sad to see smh” began flooding in. And he was in fact looking in solid form before the injury as he was three of four from the field and had already made two three-pointers.
So unfortunate. He was looking good out there

Seeing Waters unable to continue his big shooting night, one fan even blamed Draymond for causing the injury, “All cuz Draymond wanted to be stupid and lazy!!!” Well, the incident did occur after Green turned the ball over. But blaming him might not be the right thing to do because an injury can occur at any moment and no player has control over it.

Another netizen revealed his frustration saying, “No! Was super happy for his first start.” It was a big day for Waters as he got a rare starting nod from Steve Kerr and was playing well alongside Steph and Draymond. That makes the injury even more heartbreaking. Meanwhile, one fan kept an optimistic approach and wrote, “Great news to hear it’s only a hyperextension and not worse.” Yes, the injury could have been a lot worse and could have put Waters out for a long time. But that does not seem to be the case so far.
Great news to hear it’s only a hyperextension and not worse 🙏
