“We are going to win the Championship. It’s going to happen.” That’s the claim Draymond Green made during last month’s All-Star Weekend. And of course, he shocked the world on live television. Like a true partner, Stephen Curry backed his teammate up, “We love expectations. You know that. He’s smart. He knows what he’s saying.” Of course, their confidence stemmed from Jimmy Butler’s addition to the roster, giving the Bay Area team a newfound energy and belief. Since that night, the Warriors have won four of their last five games and jumped to the seventh seed in the West. But the clock is ticking as one team threatens their Championship dream. The OKC Thunder!
Making an appearance on The Steiny & Guru Show, Bay Area veteran Dan Devone talked about Stephen Curry and Co.’s limited title window, “It’s gotta happen this year. I think that this is the last dance for the Warriors.” Obviously, his one major concern was the team’s age as all Steph, Draymond, and Butler are in the later stage of their careers. But an even bigger concern for Devone was the rise of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Co., “The other thing is OKC. While I think you can still get OKC this year… I think that OKC is vulnerable this year, but I do think it’s gonna be their conference in the next five years.”
Well, the Thunder have been the top team in the West all season, miles ahead of everyone else. Even the closest team, the Nuggets, are nine wins behind them. So, it’s almost certain that they will finish as the first seed. However, Devone believes there is still a chance the Warriors can beat OKC this year because the team lacks playoff experience, “One thing that I do know is you need your battle scars in the NBA… You gotta knock on that door a couple of times before you kick that sob down.” Even last year, they got eliminated by the Mavs in the Conference Semis despite having the best record in the West.

However, once OKC gains more experience and learns how to play championship basketball, there might be no stopping them for the foreseeable future, “The light will go on for those young fellas and when they learn how to win and when that experience kicks in, I don’t think you beat them.” So, this might truly be the last shot at glory for the Bay Area franchise, as the analyst said, “I think it’s gotta happen today, it’s gotta happen in 24-25, this season. If you wanna get that elusive ring for Steph, it’s gotta happen today.” Turns out, even Steph realizes it.

Stephen Curry reportedly admitted to Draymond Green that this is their “Last Run”
Well, Steph recently acknowledged that he has been thinking about retirement more than ever before. Sixteen years in, he has achieved every accolade there is to achieve. Everything else now is just a bonus for the Baby-Faced Assassin. And when the Warriors made the trade for Butler, the harsh reality finally hit him, as Draymond revealed on his podcast, “Steph, he looked like he got belief. After the trade, he looked at me and said, ‘Man, it’s crazy because it just dawned on me that like, this is it. Like this is… This is the last run. Last run.’ And I said, ‘Let’s do it. Let’s ride until the wheels fall off.’ It was an emotional moment.”

So, the veteran duo realizes that this might be it for them. Maybe, that’s why Steph is giving it his all this year. Addressing Green’s bold championship claim, he said, “I’m excited. I got Draymond on the telecast guaranteeing we’re winning a championship. I love the expectations and having something to play for. He’s lighting a fire, for sure.” And he is constantly proving it on the court, as he scored a season-high 56 points against the Magic on Thursday, and has upped his numbers significantly since the Butler trade.
