Things are going haywire in Milwaukee, with the Bucks sitting at the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings. They haven’t found their rhythm, and the potential of losing Giannis Antetokounmpo looms large. Losing him would be a huge blow—replacing his 31 points and nearly 13 rebounds per game is no simple task. Doc Rivers must find a way to convince Giannis to stay, and the simplest solution is clear: start winning games.
But with a 1-6 record in the NBA, making the playoffs becomes necessary to keep him. At least they have a point to convince him to stay. For now, we look at the four possible trade destinations for the Greek Freak!
Possible trade destinations for Giannis Antetokounmpo

1. Golden State Warriors:
This seems almost too good to be true. With the Warriors losing Klay Thompson this off-season, they’re looking for another star to complement their impressive 6-1 start. Stephen Curry and the team are playing with passion and have the firepower to make a playoff run. They have high hopes for Brandin Podziemski, though he might need to leave the Warriors if a Giannis trade were to happen. Pulling off this trade would be challenging, given the Warriors’ tight cap space. Giannis earns $48,787,676, while the Warriors currently have a limited cap space of -$58,747,796.
However, they can close the deal with some draft picks by freeing out Andrew Wiggins, Draymond Green, and Jonathan Kuminga. Podziemski too could enter the trade deal to send Giannis to GSW. Curry will be licking his lips. Complex one, but possible.
2. Boston Celtics:
What’s your perspective on:
If Giannis joins the Warriors, is it game over for the rest of the NBA?
Have an interesting take?
We hope this doesn’t happen. If Giannis joins Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, it’s game over for the rest of the league. Brad Stevens always gets his recruitment right, but with max contracts for Tatum and Brown (over $300 mil), it’s another complicated deal to figure out. They wouldn’t want Tatum to leave the franchise. But Brown could. He could go the other way as the Celtics explore the option.
It probably benefits both teams because they can carve out solid deals. In the meantime, the Bucks can get Brown, a 2025 first-round pick, a 2027 first-round pick, 2026 second-round draft pick. That’s obviously a great deal for the Bucks who look to kick-start their comeback.
With Boston wanting to win consecutive titles, Giannis can fit the bill perfectly. And Brown, 28, can be the cornerstone of the Bucks for years to come. Don’t sleep on this one.
3. Miami Heat:
Who wants Jimmy Butler to get his hands on the title? It’s the 6th season Butler stayed with the Miami franchise as they hope to win another title. Erik Spoelstra remains one of the underrated coaches in the league and with his love for tactics, he can set the plays and adapt Giannis like duck to water.
In what way they can pull off the deal? They can have a three-way trade with the Pelicans and Bucks for Giannis with valuable assets going to each franchise. Moreover, the Bucks certainly need a center if Giannis leaves as Bam Adebayo earns $34,848,340 and could fit in the mold perfectly.
With Giannis in and Bam at the Bucks, it’s not probably the like-to-like replacement, but a couple of draft picks could unlock the door. It will be interesting to see Butler and Giannis playing in this one.
4. Houston Rockets:

The Rockets are in fourth place in the Western Conference and have a roster capable of making the playoffs. The team has Jalen Green and Alperen Sengun, which could work out well for the Bucks, looking to rebuild.
If Giannis arrived at Houston, Fred VanVleet, Dillon Brooks, Steven Adams, and Giannis would make up for a great line-up. They have perimeter shooting, rebounding, good defense and Giannis to the mix would cause the Rockets to fly high.
Their obsession with getting front-court men can work in their favor. After Hakeem Olajuwon and Yao Ming, getting a superstar like Giannis Antetokounmpo could break the deadlock. It’s a make-or-break situation. On the one hand, you have top talents like Green and Sengun. On the other, the Greek Freak enters the party.
